In the 1980s, Bixi road was famous all over the country for "leaving the land without leaving the hometown, entering the factory without entering the city, working as well as farming, and collective prosperity", realizing the prosperity and development of township enterprises and the coordinated promotion of small town construction.

Historical evolution
The name of Bixi began in the Song Dynasty. It is called "Bixi" because of the nine pools and ten li in the south of the village, the flowing water, the flowing stream, the green waves, the clear clear green and the confluence of a stream. In Song Dynasty, when Emperor Gaozong went to the south, the economy along the river became more and more prosperous, and the four sides of the city became a "market", which is called "Bixi city". In 1950, it was called Bixi township. In 1958, it was changed into commune. In 1983, it was changed into township. In 1986, it was changed into town. In 1997, with an area of 26.5 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 22 village committees of Lingxiang, Xidong, Xixi, Caoan, Yiqiao, Niujiao, Fuxing, Xizhou, Dongjie village, Hancun, Baiyan, Yinnong, Huchang, Heba, zhoujing, Ganxiang, xuzhuangqiao, Xucun, xiongjiajing, chenjiaba, Lichun and Daoyuan, and 4 neighborhood committees of Bixi, Xizhou, Dongjie and xiongjia. In June 1999, Bixi Town, Hupu town and Wushi town merged into Xingang town. In April 2003, Xingang town was merged with Dongzhang town to establish Xingang Town, and the town government was stationed in Bixi. In August 2004, the operation mode of "one level government and two-level management" was implemented. Four management areas, Bixi, Hupu, Wushi and Dongzhang, were established, and 26 administrative villages and 4 community neighborhood committees of market towns were under its jurisdiction. In July 2005, Changshu Economic Development Zone implemented the management system of "interaction between districts and towns, integration and separation". In June 2008, it was renamed Bixi town with the approval of Suzhou Municipal People's government. In 2010, Bixi town was abolished and Bixi street was established.

hygiene
Before liberation, traditional Chinese medicine was the main source of health care. Wu Kanghou, Geng Zongxian and others are famous doctors with certain attainments. Dr. Wu is not only devoted to traditional Chinese medicine, but also to western medicine. Before and after liberation in 1949, the combination of Chinese and Western medicine was used to treat diseases, which was very popular among the masses. As of the eve of liberation, there were 10 traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, 1 herbalist physician, and a small number of foreign "doctors" visiting the countryside to see and treat the local people. There were no medical, health, and health care institutions. There was a general lack of medicine, and it was very difficult for the masses to get sick. The environmental sanitation is even worse. The streets are filled with garbage, and the open-air cesspits are scattered around, which are dirty and can not be seen. In summer and autumn, mosquitoes and flies are rampant, and people's health is not guaranteed. After the founding of new China, the people's government attached great importance to medical and health services, concerned about people's health, organized individual doctors, and developed from joint clinics to health centers. Environmental sanitation develops synchronously with the construction of new market towns. The patriotic public health movement of renovating the environment and eliminating diseases has brought about great changes in the health outlook, which is basically close to the level of Hupu Town, an advanced health unit in China. After 1986, it was awarded the title of "advanced unit of civilized health in Suzhou" for three consecutive years; in 1989, it was awarded the title of "advanced unit of Patriotic Health in Jiangsu Province"; in 1992, it was awarded the title of "provincial health town"; in 1990, it was awarded the title of "national civilized town of villages and towns" by the Ministry of urban and rural construction and environmental protection of the people's Republic of China, and was listed in the national list of villages and towns. On November 19, 1993, it was named "advanced town for killing cockroaches". rural clinics: in 1969, cooperative medical stations of production teams (villages) were established one after another, later renamed as clinics, and now they are called cooperative medical stations. In 1993, there were 22 cooperative medical stations and 37 medical staff. 2. Factory school health care room: after 1980, with the development of factories and enterprises and the increase of workers, all factories have set up health care rooms one after another.
