Lili town
Lili town is subordinate to Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is adjacent to Shanghai in the East, Taihu Lake in the west, Zhejiang in the South and Suzhou in the north. It is located in the Golden Triangle hinterland where Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai meet. Lili town is located in the Taihu Plain, which is a subtropical monsoon marine climate. Four distinct seasons, moderate sunshine, abundant rain, mild and humid climate.
The town covers an area of 258 square kilometers, with 4 communities, 22 administrative villages and 177603 permanent residents (2017).
In 2014, the town is expected to achieve a GDP of 21.7 billion yuan, industrial invoice sales revenue of 52.5 billion yuan, public budget revenue of 1.84 billion yuan, fixed assets investment of 9.1 billion yuan, new foreign investment of 250 million US dollars, domestic registered capital of 7.1 billion yuan, service investment of 3.88 billion yuan, service tax of 670 million yuan, and total import and export of 1.36 billion US dollars.
From 2012 to March 2014, Lili town was rated as "national famous historical and cultural town", "China's top ten slow tourism town" and "Jiangnan Water Town". On October 9, 2018, Lili town was selected into the top 100 of the top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in 2018. In October 2019, it was rated as one of the top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019.
In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee reconfirmed Lili town as a national health township.
Evolution of organizational system
Li Li, known as Lichuan and lihuali, is also known as Yihu.
In the spring and Autumn period, Li Li was in Changshui (now Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province). After the war of Wu Yue and Li Jiao, Li Li Yu Er Fu was one of the boundaries between Wu and Yue. In Tang Dynasty, Lili was a village in Fanyu township of Jiaxing. In the third year of Kaiping (909), Wujiang county was established, and Lili County belonged to Wujiang county. In the Northern Song Dynasty, there were two villages in the East and west of Lili. During the reign of Chenghua and Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1465-1505), there were thousands of residents in Lili, which was a big town of Wujiang. In 1910, nine towns were set up in Wujiang County, with Lili as the town.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Wujiang and Zhenze counties were merged into Wujiang County, with 18 cities and townships in the county, and Lili as the city. In the 18th year of the Republic of China, Wujiang county was divided into districts below the county level and towns below the district level. Lili was the Fourth District, and the towns were divided into Lidong and Lixi districts.
In October 1946, Lidong town and Lixi town were merged into Lili town.
On May 4, 1949, Li Li was liberated and Li Li District was established. Li Li Town was a district town.
In January 1953, Lili town was upgraded to a county town.
In 1953, Lili town was upgraded from a district town to a county town.
In March 1956, Li Li District and Lu Xu District merged into Lu Xu district.
In October 1957, the District of Wujiang county was withdrawn and the township was merged, and the rural area of Lili was merged into Lili Township under the county, and the town of Lili was still a town under the county.
In September 1958, the people's commune was established in rural areas of Lili, and the system of integrating government and society was implemented.
In February 1959, Lili town was merged with Lili people's Commune and was under the jurisdiction of Lili people's commune.
In 1965, the town and community were separated and the system of Lili town was restored.
In July 1983, Lili commune was incorporated into Lili Town, implementing a new system of town governing village.
In December 2003, Beishe town and Lili town merged into Lili town.
In October 2006, the organizational system of Lili town was abolished and it was merged with Luxu town to form FenHu town.
On May 28, 2013, FenHu town was officially renamed as Lili town. After the name change, the original administrative region, the government residence and the subordinate relationship remain unchanged.

In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the administrative unit of Wujiang County followed the capital map system, with 11 capitals under the jurisdiction of Lili city and 36 maps.
In 1929, Wujiang County adjusted the autonomy of administrative region and changed the name of administrative units. There were districts below the county level, townships and towns below the district level, and administrative units below the township level were Lu and Lin (five households were neighbors and five neighbors were Lu). Lili, the Fourth District of Wujiang County, has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 23 townships, with a total of 320 Lu and 1595 neighbors. The town governs Lidong town and Lixi town; the countryside governs 23 townships, including Zhenzhu, Yangshu, Yawan, heilongdian, Dayi, shenjiagang, Changtian, Changfeng, zishuxia, Daping, Chaoxia, Huangyang, Wuqiao, Jiaoli, Dagang, youjiagang, chiting, dongxiyang, Zhangcun, shijiadian, SHIJIAGANG, xilinggang and qiyuanwan.
In August 1934, the autonomous division of Wujiang county was adjusted, and Lili was still the fourth district. From November 1 of the same year, the Baojia system was implemented (one for 10 households and one for 10 households), and the Lu neighborhood system was abolished. Lili district has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 11 townships, while the towns still have jurisdiction over 11 townships in rural areas, including Zhuwan, Dayi, Jiulong, Nanshen, Changtian, Huangyang, sigang, Yougang, Liuli, Chishu and Dongyang.
In October of 1946, Wujiang County merged towns, and Lili District governed one town and eight townships. Lidong town and Lixi town were merged into Lili Town, and rural areas were merged into 8 townships, including Dongyang, Huangyang, Jiulong, Changtian, Nanchen, Chishu, sigang and Yougang.
In February 1948, Wujiang County merged towns and townships, and Lili District governed one town and three townships: Lili Town, Lidong Township, Lixi Township and Libei township.
In February 1950, Lili District governed one town and 10 townships: Lili Town, Zhangwan Township, Dayang Township, Heilong Township, Wuqiao Township, zanglong Township, Tianfu Township, Nanying Township, Xinshen Township, Xinzhen Township and Pinglin township. The Baojia system was abolished, 113 administrative villages were built, and Lili town was divided into 9 streets. There are 9 streets in Lili Town, including Dongting street, pinglou street, Jiunan street, Jianxin street, Zhongxin street, Hujing street, Lihua street, Xixin street and Nanxin street. Newspaper reading groups and other organizations are established in each street.
In March 1956, Li Li District and Lu Xu district were merged and named Lu Xu district. Thirteen administrative villages in Xinzhen Township were assigned to Beishe, and the remaining nine townships were merged into four townships: Pinglin township was merged into Wuqiao Township, Zhangwan Township into zanglong Township, Tianfu Township into Nanying Township, Heilong Township and Xinshen Township into Dayang township.
At the end of 1956, 27 senior agricultural production cooperatives were established in the whole region. There are first senior society, fourth senior society, fifth senior society, sixth senior society, seventh senior society, eighth senior society, Minfeng senior society and Xiongfeng senior society in Canglong township; FenHu senior society, Xinfeng senior society, Lixing senior society, liming first senior society, liming Second Senior society and liming third senior society in Nanying township; Fulian senior society and Jianfeng senior society in Dayang township Wuqiao township has the first senior society, Lifeng senior society, Xinfeng senior society, Mingfeng senior society, Yifeng senior society, Jianfeng senior society, Xinfang senior society and Xinlian senior society.
In October 1957, Wujiang county was withdrawn from the district and merged into the township. Wuqiao Township, zanglong Township, Nanying Township and Dayang Township, which originally belonged to Lili Prefecture, were merged into Lili township. 20 administrative villages in the township are assigned to Beishe, 12 to Bache, 7 to Pingwang and 1 to Tongli.
In 1958, street committees were set up in nine streets of Lili town (later renamed as streets). In September 1958, the people's commune of Li Li was established. 23 senior communes (previously, 4 senior communes were assigned to Beishe) were merged or formed separately into 13 production teams, including Liyang, Xianfeng, Xiongfeng, Hongxing, Mingfeng, Xinfang, Yifeng, Qinfeng, Jianxin, Xinhua, Lixing, Dalian and Fulian. Meanwhile, scattered fishermen were organized to form fishing teams.
From 1959 to 1960, the people's commune of Li Li adjusted the administrative area of the brigade. Xianfeng brigade was divided into Xianfeng and Jianmin brigade, Hongxing brigade was divided into Hongxing and Xinxing brigade, Dalian brigade was divided into Dalian and qunlian brigade, and Xinhua and Lixing brigades divided six natural villages to form Nanxing brigade.
In 1961, the administrative region of the brigade was adjusted again: Liyang brigade was divided into Fuxing, Lijing and Dongyang brigade, Jianmin brigade into Jianmin and Lidong brigade, Xiongfeng brigade into Xiongfeng and Xinmin brigade, Lixing brigade into Lixing and liming brigade, Xinfang brigade into Xinfang, Xinlian and Lifeng brigade, Qinfeng brigade into Qinfeng, Heshan, Tangjiao brigade and Yifeng brigade The brigade is divided into Yifeng and Jianfeng, Xianfeng into Xianfeng and Xinfeng. The number of commune brigades increased to 29. In 1962, Wujiang County adjusted the administrative areas of some communes, and Lixing, liming and Fulian were assigned to Beishe commune.
In 1963, Xinhua brigade and Jianxin brigade set up Nanying brigade in six villages. So far, there are 27 production teams in the commune.
In 1976, with the approval of the Wujiang County Revolutionary Committee, the seventh and eighth production teams of Lidong production brigade were established independently, and the number of vegetable production teams in the whole commune increased to 28.
In 1979, the neighborhood office was set up in Lili Town, which has jurisdiction over 9 streets.
Since July 1983, a new system of village management by town has been implemented. Lili town has jurisdiction over 9 streets and 28 administrative villages.
In 1987, Renmin Street was added to the town. In 1992, Lohan street was added. In 1994, Xingli street was added.
In December 1998, a deputy town level sub district office was set up in Lili Town, which has jurisdiction over 12 streets.
In August 2001, the administrative villages of Lili town were adjusted from 28 to 19: Xiyang village, Dongyang village and Lijing village were merged and renamed as Liyang village; Xiasi village, Lidong village and fujiabang village were merged and renamed as Lisi village; Jianmin village and Gannan village were merged and renamed as Jiannan village; Nanxing Village and Yuzi village were merged and renamed as Mingxing village; huazi village and Nanying village were merged and renamed more It was named Huaying village; Xinfang village and Silian village were merged and renamed Fanglian village; Fuyang village and Hefan village were merged and renamed Yangfan village; and fishery village, Xiongfeng village and Shibei village
