Huangdai town
Huangdai Town, formerly known as chunshendai, is also known as Daichuan and Daixi. It is located in Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City, about 14.5km away from the center of Suzhou city. It is connected with Likou town and Weitang Town of Wuxian City in the East, Huangqiao town and Hushuguan town in the south, Dongqiao town and Houzhai town of Wuxi City in the west, and Beiqiao town in the north. The main scenic spot is Chunshen lake.
Huangdai town has a total area of 56 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 141556 (2017).
Huangdai town is one of the five big towns in Wuxian County, which is known as the land of fish and rice in the south of the Yangtze River. It has won the honorary titles of National Health Town, national ecological beautiful town, Jiangsu civilized town, Jiangsu health town, Jiangsu Science and technology demonstration town, etc.
In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee reconfirmed Huangdai town as a national health township.
Evolution of organizational system
At the end of Shang Dynasty, in order to avoid the dispute of seizing the throne, the eldest son Taibo and the second son Zhongyong of King Gu Gongyi, the king of Zhou, ran from Zhouyuan to Wu at the foot of Qishan mountain in Shaanxi Province, and established the state power in Meili (now Meicun, Wuxi City). Huangdai belongs to Gouwu state.
After King Wu of Zhou conquered Zhou, he established the Zhou Dynasty and appointed Zhou Zhang, the grandson of Taibo V, King Wu. In the sixth year of King Jing of Zhou Dynasty (514 BC), Helu ascended the throne. There was Qimen in the north of Suzhou, and Huangdai was more than 30 miles northwest of Qimen.
In the third year of King yuan of Zhou, the 23rd year of King Fucha of Wu, and the 24th year of King Goujian of Yue (473 BC), the state of Yue destroyed Wu. Wu belonged to the state of Yue, and Huangdai belonged to the state of Yue.
In the 9th year of King Nan of Zhou Dynasty and the 23rd year of King Huai of Chu Dynasty (306 BC), the state of Chu destroyed Yue and established Jiangdong county. Wu belonged to the state of Chu, and Huangdai belonged to the state of Chu.
In the 53rd year of King Nan of Zhou Dynasty and the first year of King kaolie of Chu Dynasty (262 BC), Chu worshipped Huang Xie as his prime minister and was granted the title of emperor Chunshen in Huaibei. In the 22nd year of King kaolie of Chu (241 BC), he was granted the title of Chunshen king in Wu. The earth weir water was used to build the weir Dai, which was named Chunshen Dai and later Huangdai.
In the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (221 BC), Qin unified the six states and set up Wu County in Wu area. Huangdai belonged to Wu County.

In November 1937, the Japanese army occupied Wuxian county and Huangdai was occupied.
In March of 1939, the puppet Wuxian magistrate's office demarcated the township area and established the puppet Huangdai Township Office.
In December 1940, the puppet Wu county government restored the division of Huangdai before 26 years of the Republic of China by order of the puppet Department of civil affairs of Jiangsu Province. Huangdai still belonged to the Sixth District of Wu County, and the district office was located in Huangdai.
In July of 1941, Huangdai belonged to the Fourth District of Wu County, and the district office was stationed in Huangdai.
On August 15, 1945, after the victory of Anti Japanese War, Wu County Government of KMT took over the local power. In September, the names and boundaries of various districts and towns still returned to the situation before 26 years of the Republic of China. Huangdai is still the Sixth District of Wu County, and the district office is located in Huangdai.
In February 1947, Wu County was divided into districts and towns. Huangdai was Huangdai District, and the district office was stationed in Huangdai.
On April 27, 1949, Wu County was liberated. On May 1, the people's Government of Wu County was established and stationed in Huguan town. The people's Government of Huangdai district was established on the same day, and the district government is located in Huangdai town. In the winter of that year, Baojia was abolished and Xinxiang was rebuilt, with 50000 people as one district and 5000 people as one township. Administrative villages and groups were established in the countryside, with 143 townships in 8 districts.
In November 1954, Huangdai town was upgraded to a town directly under the county.
In March 1956, Huangdai district and Lumu district were merged into Huangdai District, where the district office was located. Huangdai and Lumu are still district towns.
In March 1957, based on the market towns, agricultural cooperatives and the merger of the whole Township, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged in August. Built Huangdai Township, township government in Huangdai town.
On September 24, 1958, Huangdai people's commune was established and changed from township to commune. The commune is located in dihuangdai town. Huangdai town belongs to Huangdai commune.
In September 1962, Huangdai and Dongshan were upgraded from commune towns to county towns. Huangdai town is one of the five towns in Wu county (Huguan, Mudu, Luzhi, Huangdai, Dongshan).
At the beginning of 1969, Weiting, Huangdai, Luzhi and Dongshan were still incorporated into the communes where the towns were located.
In July 1983, the system reform was carried out, with the separation of government and society and the establishment of townships, villages and groups. The people's commune of Huangdai was abolished and the people's Government of Huangdai township was established.
On July 24, 1992, Huangdai township was withdrawn and the people's Government of Huangdai town was established. The system of town governing village was implemented.
On February 28, 2001, Wuzhong District and Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City were built. Huangdai town belongs to Xiangcheng District of Suzhou city.
In June 2006, the former Dongqiao town and Huangdai town merged to form Huangdai town.

In February 1934, the Jiangsu provincial government adopted the "measures for the arrangement of autonomous regions by counties in Jiangsu Province", which took the area, household registration and economic status as the standard (500 households per township), readjusted the zoning and divided the towns.
