Wangzuo town belongs to Fengtai District of Beijing. Located in the southwest suburb of Beijing, Fengtai District in the West. It borders Fangshan District in the southwest, Mentougou District in the northwest and Changxindian town in the northeast. With an area of 63.62 square kilometers, it governs 8 central villages, 36 natural villages and 48581 permanent residents (2017). The town government is located at 99 Changqing Road.
In August 2002, it was listed as the only municipal sustainable development experimental area among 33 small towns in Beijing, and the per capita income reached 8949 yuan in 2008. It has successively won the titles of "national health town", "national beautiful environment town", "national demonstration town for hundreds of millions of farmers' health promotion action", "capital civilized town", "Beijing Sustainable Development Experimental Zone" and "capital garden town".

Evolution of organizational system

Wangzuo area belonged to Liangxiang, and Lixiang Marquis state was set up in Emperor Wu's time. When Wang Mang became emperor, Liangxiang was renamed Guangyang, Wangzuo area was Guangyang, Xixiang was renamed Yifeng. Guangyang county was abandoned. During the reign of Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Liangxiang was restored to its old name and Guangyang county was restored. Xixiang (state) was once merged in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and was reestablished at the time of emperor Xiandi. Li Xiang (state) was granted the state by Liu Ying, the prince of Chengyang. He was set up in the fourth year of Yuanshuo (125 BC) by Emperor Wu, and was exempted from the state in the third year of Yuanshou (120 BC). Another place in the book of Han Dynasty was set up in the first year of Ganlu (53 BC) of Lixiang (state), and it was renamed ZhangFu in the time of Wangmang. Some villages in Wangzuo area once belonged to Fangliang county and Fangshan County respectively. From May 1938 to June 1941, some villages in Wangzuo town belonged to the Anti Japanese base area and Fangliang United County in the liberated area of Shanxi Chahar Hebei border area, the fourth special office in Western Hebei and the sixth special office in Shanxi Chahar Hebei.
