Evolution of organizational system
Chengqiao town is the combined name of the original county and Qiaozhen (named after Puji bridge), which has a history of 400 years.
In 1277 (the 14th year of the Yuan Dynasty), Chongming was promoted from a salt field to a state. Xue Wenhu, the governor of the state, built the city in Shadui, Yao and Liu. This was the first construction of the city.
In 1352 (the 13th year of the reign of the Yuan Dynasty), the tide burst and collapsed in the south of Zhouzhi. Daluhuachi baliyan, Zhizhou Cheng Shichang and Tongzhi Wang didn't spend the first time to build a city 15 Li north of Zhoucheng, with a radius of 9 li, 30 steps and a moat width of 10 steps. They built gonggu, Bufang, Xiang, Miao, Si, Guan and school. This was one move and two build.
In 1420 (the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty), the city was under the tide. Gao Juzheng, Wang Ying, the county magistrate, and Jiang Lin, the commander (official name), built a new County town in Yaoliu shaqin Jiafu, 10 miles north of the city. The scale of the city was the same as before, and the temple construction was more magnificent than before. This was the second relocation and the third construction.
In 1529 (the eighth year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty), the county seat collapsed in the sea. Du Ji, the magistrate of the county, built an Earth City in sanshamajiabang. This was the third relocation and the fourth construction.
In 1550-1553 (29th-32nd year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty), Yin Zhe, the magistrate of HaiYe County, agreed to build a new city in Pingyang sand. In 1554 (the 33rd year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty), when the city was being built, Japanese pirates attacked the city, burned down the official offices, and Tang yicen, the county magistrate, died. 1555 (the 34th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty). According to Zhou rudou's request, the imperial court allocated 40000 taels of silver to build a brick city and strengthen the city defense. After 10 months of completion, Chongming began to have brick city. Around the city wall base, 7 Li and 3 fen, the moat is more than 10 Zhang wide, 1 Zhang deep, 2 Zhang high, and 1366 Zhang surrounded. The east gate of the city is titled "Donghai Yingzhou"; the west gate is titled "Gusu Juzhen"; the south gate is titled "Qinglong Yaojin"; the north gate is titled "Jianghai Chaozong". This is the fourth migration and the fifth construction.
In 1583 (the 11th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty), the northwest corner of the county collapsed, and the magistrate he maoguan went to Changsha to build a new city. In view of the fact that Chongming had built the city three times in less than one hundred years since 1529 (the eighth year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty), and the people were poor, Li Dajing, the successor county magistrate, reduced the original 7-li city to 4-li-7. In 1586 (the 14th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty), the construction started. There are rivers around the city, and a mud city is built outside. There are five gates in the East, South, West, North and Southeast. The east gate is named Leping, the south gate is named Yingxun, the west gate is named Qingcheng, the north gate is named Gongchen, and the southeast gate is named Chaoyang. The city wall is built with Ming Dynasty green bricks. It was completed in 1588. In 1675 (the 14th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty), xiuchengmen changed its name. The east gate was named Chunhui, the South Gate Chongan, the west gate Zhenhai, the north gate Wuding, and the southeast gate Baisheng.
Since 1954, the city walls have been demolished one after another and turned into roads around the city, namely Nanmen Road, Dongmen Road, Ximen road and Beimen road. Bayi Road runs through the north and south of the city and Renmin Road runs through the East and west of the city. In the middle section of today's zhongjinqiao road to the north of the county, there used to be a Puji bridge, which was made of stone strips, commonly known as "Daqiao", so it was called "Qiaozhen".
