Caojing town belongs to Jinshan District of Shanghai. It is located in the east of Jinshan District, bordering Shanghai Chemical Industrial Zone in the East, Jinshan Industrial Zone and Shanyang town in the west, Hangzhou Bay in the south, Zhelin town in Fengxian District in the north, 14 km from Jinshan new urban area, and 58 km from the northeast to Shanghai urban area. The town covers an area of 56.92 square kilometers, with 1927.7 hectares of arable land. It has jurisdiction over 11 villages and 3 communities. The town center is located at 30 ° 48 ′ N and 121 ° 25 ′ 2 ″ E.
As of 2012, the number of registered residence in Caojing town was 10247, with a population of 31222 and registered population of 18048. In 2014, the total financial revenue was 280.3707 million yuan, accounting for 99.95% of the adjusted budget, which was 1.92% lower than that in 2013 (original caliber).
In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.
Historical evolution
Caojing town was built in the Song Dynasty. It was named after the ancient Caoxi River, which carried grain.
In 1685, the Qing government set up the Jiangjiang customs, which was the first organization to manage the customs business in Shanghai.
On May 13, 1949, Caojing was liberated. On May 27, the fourth Township Joint Office of Songjiang County People's government was set up. On November 28, the office was removed and Caojing district was built.
In August 1957, Caojing township was built.
Donghai people's commune was established in September 1958 (later changed to Caojing people's commune). On November 24 of the same year, Songjiang County was transferred from Jiangsu Province to Shanghai.
In October 1966, it was transferred from Songjiang County to Jinshan County.
In March 1984, the township system was restored to Caojing township.
On May 28, 1993, it was approved to withdraw the township to Caojing town.
