Zhoujiadu Street

Zhoujiadu Street, belonging to the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, is located in the southwest of Pudong New Area, adjacent to the Expo site in the north, with an area of 5.52 square kilometers. By the end of July 2017, the population was 142 thousand and 200, of which 109 thousand and 500 registered residence. By the end of October 2019, it has 32 neighborhood committees.

Zhoujiadu Street area is a rural area in history, with vast land and sparse population, and dense rivers. In the Qing Dynasty, boat people set up ferry to the river, and then gradually formed towns. Since 1993, the former southern urban area has been under the jurisdiction of Pudong New Area.

In 2018, Zhoujiadu sub district office received 416.5241 million yuan, including 313.7534 million yuan from financial allocation and 399.3081 million yuan from annual expenditure.

Historical evolution

In the Qing Dynasty, boat people set up ferry to the river, and then gradually formed a town, with shops and small theatres for Southern goods, foreign goods, snacks, etc.

At the beginning of the Republic of China, with the development of national industry in Pudong, Hexing iron and steel works, zhanghuamao textile works, Lunchang dyeing works, laogongmao shipyard, Dalai wharf and Hexing wharf were built in Zhoujiadu area. There are ferry stations and small railway stations in the territory. The land and water transportation is convenient, so the business develops.

During the Songhu war, residents fled, factories were closed and business declined. Since then, farmers and fishermen from northern Jiangsu and Shandong built simple houses and "rolling dragons" along the river, forming shantytowns such as Xinxi village, Huangzi road and Sulu village, with more than 2000 households.

Before liberation, it belonged to zhoudu Township, Sisheng District, Pudong.

At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to the second office of Yangsi district.

In 1950, zhoudu Township People's government was established.

In 1956, it was renamed Zhoujiadu office, belonging to Dongchang District.

In 1958, it merged with Tangqiao office and established the "May 1" people's commune town union brigade, which belongs to Pudong county.

In 1959, it was separated from Tangqiao and still called Zhoujiadu office.

In 1960, it merged with Tangqiao again and prepared to build Zhoujiadu branch of Wusong district urban people's commune. In November of the same year, it was put under the jurisdiction of Nanshi District, known as Zhoujiadu sub district office.

In 1984, 13 neighborhood committees were set up in the north and Tangqiao street was built separately.

In 1986, another 37 neighborhood committees in the South were set up to build Shanggang Xincun street.

In 1993, it was under the jurisdiction of Pudong New Area.
