Nanxiang Town
Nanxiang Town belongs to Jiading District of Shanghai. It is one of the four famous historical towns in Shanghai. In history, it once had the reputation of "little Nanxiang saisu city". By the end of 2017, the permanent population of Nanxiang Town had reached 189846, covering an area of 33.27 square kilometers. In 2016, the tax revenue was 8.376 billion yuan, and the town level revenue was 2.697 billion yuan.
Nanxiang Town, the northwest gateway of Shanghai, is located in the southeast of Jiading City, 12 minutes' drive from Hongqiao International Airport and 18 kilometers from Shanghai People's Square. As of 2016, Nanxiang Town has 16 communities and 8 administrative villages.
Nanxiang is an ancient town with a history of thousands of years. As early as the fourth year of liangtianjian in the Southern Dynasty (AD 505), the white crane Nanxiang temple was built, which got its name. Later, it built five dynasties brick towers, Hecha mountain in Southern Song Dynasty, Guyi garden and Tanyuan garden in Ming Dynasty. Nanxiang Town has won the titles of China's famous historical and cultural town, national civilized town and national health town.
Historical evolution
In 505, the fourth year of Liang Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty, the white crane Nanxiang temple was built. Because the temple became a town, it was named Nanxiang. After Nanxiang temple, another brick tower of the Five Dynasties, the twin towers, and the beacon tower left by Han Shizong, the anti Jin general of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Hecha mountain, were built. in the early Ming Dynasty, the economic prosperity of Jiading County was the highest. In Ming Dynasty, Guyi garden and Tanyuan garden were built. During the reign of Jiajing, the houses in the south of Wan'an temple were destroyed. To Longqing, Wanli years, gradually revived. In the town, there are many cloth factories, which become the distribution center of local cloth industry in the county. In the early Qing Dynasty, with the increase of population, the number of flowers, beans, rice and wheat, the number of department stores, and the number of boats and carts, it became known as "yinnanxiang". During the reign of Shunzhi, Tianen bridge, Yunxiang temple, brick pagodas of Five Dynasties and other historical sites were built. In the 34th year of Qianlong (1769), there was a special County Office. In the early days of Xuantong, from Nanjie to Huning railway station, a road was built. Many scholars, businessmen and overseas Chinese came here in droves. They mainly trade in cotton, homespun cloth, foreign yarn, rice wheat, broad beans, fresh cocoons, bamboo, oil cakes, aquatic products and vegetables. In 1912, Nanxiang autonomous region was established. in 1929, it was subordinate to the Second District of Jiading County, and the Second District Office was set up. There are four towns: Guyi, Luhua, Donglin and Huimin. During the period of Japanese occupation, the Japanese army carried out material control and prohibited grain. Nanxiang, located in Jiangsu Province and near Shanghai, has become a grain distribution center. In August 1946, Nanxiang Town Office was established in the second County of Jiangsu Province. On May 14, 1949, Nanxiang was liberated. On May 16, Nanxiang Municipal People's government was set up in the market town, and the first Township Joint Office of Jiading County was set up in the countryside. In October, the first Township Joint Office was removed and Jiwang District People's government was established. On June 13, 1950, Jiwang district was merged with Nanxiang City, and Nanxiang District People's government was established, under which 13 Township People's governments and Nanxiang Town Office were set up. On November 24, Nanxiang Town was designated as a county town with a people's Government of Nanxiang Town, which was later changed into a town people's Committee and a town Revolutionary Committee. In August 1954, the people's Government of Nanxiang district was changed to Nanxiang District Office, and then to Township People's Committee, people's commune management committee and people's commune Revolutionary Committee. In 1956, after the socialist transformation of private industry and commerce, the number of commercial outlets gradually decreased. in 1979, the reform and opening up led to the gradual increase of commercial network. In April 1983, the people's commune was merged with the town to form the Nanxiang Town People's government, which implemented the policy of governing the village by the town. In 1992, it was a town directly under Jiading District.
