In 1953, a public office was set up, belonging to Taiping District.

In 1958, it was changed into Xianfeng commune.

In 1968, it merged with locomotive commune to form locomotive branch.

In 1971, Fenghuo commune was established.

In 1974, it was renamed Dazhai road commune.

In 1979, it was changed into nanzhilu street, still belonging to Taiping District.

On March 24, 2004, Daowai District was merged with Taiping District. The new district was named Daowai District, and nanzhilu street was named Daowai District.
