Sino Singapore Tianjin eco city is a strategic cooperation project between the governments of China and Singapore. The construction of eco city shows the determination of the Chinese and New Zealand governments to deal with global climate change, strengthen environmental protection, and save resources and energy, which provides a positive discussion and typical demonstration for the construction of resource-saving and environment-friendly society.

Eco city is located in Tianjin Binhai New Area (40 km away from the center of Tianjin). Project background

In April 2007, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council, when meeting with Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, jointly proposed to build a resource-saving, environment-friendly and social harmonious city in China. In July 2007, Vice Premier Wu Yi visited Singapore and further discussed with Singapore on the principles of site selection and construction of eco city. Subsequently, the relevant national ministries and commissions conducted repeated comparison and scientific demonstration on Tianjin and other alternative cities. After consulting the Ministry of national development of Singapore, they initially determined that the eco city was located in Tianjin Binhai New Area at the end of September. On November 18, 2007, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore jointly signed the framework agreement between the government of the people's Republic of China and the government of the Republic of Singapore on building an eco city in the people's Republic of China. Site selection principle
