Xiejiatan Township

Xiejiatan township is located in the middle of Hualong Hui Autonomous County, Qinghai Province, 3 kilometers away from the county seat. Population 6208 (2017). It covers an area of 70.91 square kilometers. In the Republic of China, laza township was set up. In 1958, it merged with ashnu township to form Bayan commune. In 1963, xiejiatan commune was set up separately.

It is 3 kilometers away from the county government. The majority of the population is Han nationality, and the Hui nationality accounts for 34% of the total population. It governs 18 administrative villages: gongzha, laza, Yaolong, kaang, diaogou, Dingjiawan, Jiudaowan, Zhujiawan, hanjiayao, erdoqina, Quankang, ximenquan, yinpo, xiahehuai, xiejiatan, Hequn, Matang and Yahe. Laza township was set up in the Republic of China. Xiejiatan township was set up in 1950. It was merged into Bayan town in 1956. Bayan commune was established in 1958 by merging with ashnu township. Xiejiatan commune was set up separately in 1963. Xiejiatan township was reestablished in 1984.
