Gaoshan township is located in the south of Dayi County. Township People's government resident, about 22 kilometers away from the county. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, the high mountain area is now Nanzhong township. Since Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty, it belongs to the fourth and second grade of Shangnan township.
In the second year of the Republic of China, the fourth and second districts were changed into four districts and two districts respectively. In the 22nd year of the Republic of China, Shangnan township was changed into the third district. In the 24th year of the Republic of China, Gaoshan Town, tongguomiao, zhushandun, Yinshan, yuwayao in the four districts and yutazi, yangheqiao, Huangshan, Wangshan, Fanshan, congshulin in the second district were cut out to set up Gaoshan Township, which is located in huguangguan of Gaoshan town and has jurisdiction over 10 Baotou. In August of the 25th year of the Republic of China, Gaoshan township was abolished and its administrative areas were divided into Shangan town and Sancha Township. In September 1953, Shangang village and Minsheng village in Sancha Township and Gaoshan village, Zhaoan village, Jiulong village and tonggong village in Shangan Township were designated. Shangang village was divided into Jianxin village and restored to Gaoshan township. In November 1955, Gaoshan township was abolished, and its nine villages still belong to Shangan and Sancha townships. In December 1961, Gaoshan township was restored according to the original administrative region, and Gaoshan people's commune was established, with 8 production teams and 49 production teams under its jurisdiction. In November 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of the commune was established, and the administrative region was only called Gaoshan commune, not Gaoshan township at the same time. In February 1973, the fifth, sixth and eighth production brigades assigned two production brigades to form the ninth production brigade. In March 1984, Gaoshan township was renamed, with 9 villages and 56 villager groups under its jurisdiction.
