Xinkai Township
Xinkai Township, subordinate to Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is named after Xinkai mountain (commonly known as Geda Temple). Xinkai township is located in the south of Lingtai County, adjacent to ShaoZhai town in the East, Linyou County in Shaanxi Province in the south, Puwo Township in the West and Zhongtai town in the north, with an administrative area of 105.83 square kilometers.
Before 1949, it was a new town. After 1949, it was returned to ShaoZhai district. At the end of 1961, Xinkai commune was established. In 1983, it was changed to Xinkai township. By the end of 2018, 9080 people had registered residence in new rural areas. As of June 2020, Xinkai township has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages, and the Township People's government is stationed in Sidi village.
At the end of 2011, the per capita net income of farmers was 2099 yuan. By the end of 2018, there was one industrial enterprise in Xinkai township.
Historical evolution
Before 1949, it was a new town.
After 1949, it was returned to ShaoZhai district.
In 1957, two townships, Xinkai and Sigou, were set up.
In 1958, it belonged to Zhongtai commune and ShaoZhai commune; in October of the same year, it belonged to Lingtai commune.
At the end of 1961, Xinkai commune was established.
In 1970, the community site was moved from Geda temple to shidiyuan.
In 1983, it was changed to Xinkai township.

In Xinkai Township, mountains, rivers and plateaus alternate with each other, most of which are mountainous areas. The terrain of the tableland is higher in the west, lower in the East, higher in the South and lower in the north. The altitude is between 980-1284 meters. The tableland is divided into three small tablelands by gullies, which are scattered.

Xinkai township is a warm temperate continental monsoon climate with mild climate and long frost free period. The annual average temperature is 8.6 ℃, the maximum temperature is 35.8 ℃, and the minimum temperature is - 23.2 ℃. The average annual precipitation is 654.4 mm, with uneven distribution. The precipitation in July, August and September accounts for 55.5% of the annual precipitation. The annual average total sunshine hours is 2453 hours, the accumulated temperature is 2804 ℃ greater than or equal to 10 ℃, and the frost free period is 159 days.
natural disaster
The main natural disasters in Xinkai township are heavy rainfall, hail, frost, summer drought and so on. The most serious heavy rainfall occurred on July 23, 2010, which led to the collapse of houses and courtyard walls of some farmers, the collapse of crops, the damage of power supply and communication equipment, and the number of affected people reached 2283. The average hail disaster occurred twice in five years. The most serious one occurred on July 19, 2011. The hail time was about 7 minutes, which affected 8933 people in 76 communities of 11 villages in the township. 21346 mu of crops in the township were damaged, including 1824 mu of orchards. The direct economic loss was 10.23 million yuan.

The main mineral resources in Xinkai township are coal and oil. The preliminary proved coal reserves are 120 million tons and the recoverable reserves are 80 million tons, which are mainly distributed in liangjiazhuang village, Sigou village and Fengjiashan village.
