Dongchuan Town, belonging to Xigu District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is adjacent to Liuquan Township in the East, Yongjing County in the south, Xincheng town in the West and the Yellow River in the north. The area is 42.11 square kilometers. In 2018, 9779 people registered residence.

At the beginning of 1950, Dongpo Township and Hexiang Township were established, belonging to Huanghui District of Gaolan county. In August 1958, the two townships were merged into Dongchuan production brigade of Xigu commune. In January 1962, Dongchuan commune was established. In March 1982, it was changed to Dongchuan township. In September 2000, Dongchuan township was merged with Xin'an Road Street and xin'he road street to build Dongchuan town. In June 2020, Dongchuan town governs 2 communities and 6 administrative villages.

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Gaolan county.
