Maping Town
Maping Town belongs to Luonan County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. Located in the northwest of Luonan County, it is adjacent to Shimen town in the East, Chengguan town in the south, Baoan town in the West and Jindui town in Huazhou District of Weinan City in the northwest. The maximum distance from east to west is 21.5 kilometers, and the maximum distance from north to south is 15.1 kilometers, with a total area of 139.87 square kilometers.

Historical evolution
It is named after Maping river.
In 1949, Maping township was established, named after Maping street.
In 1958, Maping commune was established in Gushan, Suyu and Youfang townships.
In 1959, Maping commune was abolished and merged into Shimen commune to establish Maping management area.
In 1961, Maping commune was established.
In 1966, it was renamed Changwu commune.
In 1968, the original name was restored.
In 1983, during the system reform, the commune was changed into Nongxing and Maping townships.
In 1985, it was merged into the current scale.
In August 1997, Gushan Township, Maping Township, Liyu Township and Youfang Township were abolished and Maping Town was merged.

Yunmeng Mountain (also known as Shutang mountain) in Maping Town is the branch of Qinling mountain. It is east-west, about 10 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide. The main peak is 1745 meters above sea level. It is the first of Luonan mountains, with green pines, cypresses and unique stones. According to legend, the mythical figure chisongzi, the rain master of Shennong, once traveled here. It is said that Zhang Liangxing of the Han Dynasty destroyed the Qin Dynasty, and Liu Bang, the Prime Minister of the Han Dynasty, declared himself Emperor and founded the country.
In the early years of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, several ancient temples were built on the top of the mountain. Among them, the Longevity Palace has three main halls, three middle halls and three front halls, and its pavilions are well preserved. Every year, the temple fair is held on September 17, 18 and 19 of the lunar calendar. On the mountain, there are natural landscapes such as Sheshen cliff, Matou peak, "Shutang snowflake" and "Yunmeng Guanhua". At the foot of the mountain, there are rare stone attractions such as axe grinding stone and axe testing stone. There are endless tourists all the year round.
