Guangyi Street

Guangyi street belongs to Liangxi District, located in the east of Wuxi City. Bounded by Huning Expressway, 312 National Road, Tongjiang Avenue and Guangnan interchange, it is adjacent to Guangrui Road, shangmadun, Jianghai street and Dongting town of Xishan District. It covers an area of 9.735 square kilometers. 76769 registered residence population (2010). It has nine neighborhood committees, namely Youdu, shangmadun, mojiazhuang, Dingcun, Guangfeng, huangnitou, Xiangyang, Maoan and Guangyi Jiayuan. Historical evolution

Guangyi township was established in June 1949, named after Guangqin mill and Guangfeng flour mill, which benefited the people. It belongs to Xizhang District of Wuxi County. In June 1954, it was assigned to the Sixth District of Wuxi City. In February 1956, guangbai and Xijing townships were merged. In July 1958, it was transferred to Wuxi County, and Guangyi commune was established in September. In 1960, it was assigned to Chongan commune of Wuxi City and renamed Guangyi branch. In 1963, it was assigned to Taihu District of Wuxi City and renamed Guangyi commune. In 1983, it was changed to Guangyi Township, a suburb of Wuxi City. In 1996, it covers an area of 11.5 square kilometers and has a population of 21000. It has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages, including Youdu, Dingcun, shangmadun, tangzhouxiang, nangxia, huangnitou, Qinfeng, Guangfeng, Xiangyang and Maoxiang. In 1999, villages and towns were withdrawn. At the beginning of 2001, it belongs to lakeside district.

In 2002, it was divided into Chongan district from Binhu District. In 2004, the town was removed and the streets were set up. It is located in the east of Wuxi City, bounded by Huning Expressway, 312 National Road, Tongjiang Avenue and Guangnan interchange.
