It is named after the Yongfeng dyke built in the Wanli year of the Ming Dynasty (1573). In the early days of liberation, Yongfeng (happy ridge) belonged to the first district of Hanyang County, and Shilipu (Shilipu) belonged to Fucheng District, a suburb of Wuhan. In 1951, Yongfeng film was under the jurisdiction of Wuhan city. In 1952, five townships including Hongxing, Qianjin, kuaihuoling, Heping and Miliang were established, belonging to Fucheng District of Wuhan city. In February 1955, Fucheng District was merged into Hanqiao District, with 12 townships including Hongxing, Qianjin, Heping, kuaihuoling, Miliang, Shili, Hancheng, Wuli, Xingfu, Longyang, Yong'an and Jiangdi. In 1956, it was merged into three townships: Yongfeng, Shili and Jiangdi. In September 1958, the three townships were merged into Xianfeng commune. In October 1959, it was changed into three administrative areas: Yongfeng, Shili and Jiangdi; soon it was changed into three communes. In 1960, it was under the jurisdiction of Hanyang District. In 1964, it still belonged to Hanqiao district. In 1975, Shili commune was merged into Yongfeng commune, belonging to Hongshan District. It was changed to Yongfeng Township in 1984. In 1985, Yongfeng Township was divided into Hanyang District. In 1996, it covers an area of 51.2 square kilometers and has a population of 25000. It governs 22 administrative villages including zhengjiazui, xuwan, kuaihuoling, Luojiazui, Chenjiazui, Sanyanqiao, Miliang, Sitai, HUANGJINKOU, dongjiadian, Xianshan, Liaoyuan, mozishan, Hanjiang, Shilipu, Hanqiao, Tieqiao, wulidun, Longyang, Hancheng, taojialing and Tangshan. In 2004, the township government was stationed in wangjiawante No.1, with a population of 23171 and an area of 51.29 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 22 administrative villages including zhengjiazui, Sanyanqiao, kuaihuoling, Luojiazui, Chenjiazui, HUANGJINKOU, dongjiadian, Hanjiang, Moshan, Shilipu, taojialing, Xianshan, Liaoyuan, xuwan, Miliang, Sitai, Hanqiao, Tieqiao, wulidun, Longyang, Hancheng and Tangshan. At the end of December 2, 2005, the township was replaced by a street. The office is located at No. 1, Yongfeng Road. It has jurisdiction over 9 neighborhood committees including Xinghuo, Zhongxing, bailing, wulidun, Guoqin, Moshan, taojialing, Xianshan and Liaoyuan, and 13 administrative villages including Longyang, Seoul, zhengjiazui, Sanyanqiao, kuaihuoling, Luojiazui, Chenjiazui, HUANGJINKOU, dongjiadian, xuwan, Miliang, Sitai and Tangshan.
