Jiangsu Road Street is located in the east of Changning District. It is the seat of the CPC Changning District Committee, the District People's Congress, the district government and the district CPPCC. It is the gateway of Changning District to the central urban area. The street starts from Zhenning road in the East and Zhongshan Park in the West; it starts from Huashan Road in the South and reaches Changning Road and Wuding West Road in the north, with a total area of 1.52 square kilometers, 51883 people (2010), and 13 neighborhood committees. Jiangsu Road Street has rich historical and cultural heritage, which is one of the streets with more "garden houses" in the city. Promoted by the construction of three socialist civilizations, it has been named Shanghai civilized community since 2001, and has won the honorary titles of Shanghai advanced unit of community education, Shanghai double support model street, Shanghai advanced unit of community overseas Chinese Affairs, Shanghai learning community practice base, Shanghai first-class health Street, etc. By the end of 2004, 29 municipal and district level civilized communities and 25 civilized lanes had been built. It starts from Wanhangdu Road and Zhenning road in the East, turns to Yuyuan Road and Anxi road in the west, turns to Jiangsu Road, Yan'an Road and Wuyi Road along Huashan Road in the south, turns to Jiangsu Road and Changning Road in the north. It borders Jing'an District and Xuhui District.
Historical evolution
In the early 19th century, rivers crisscrossed. There are qingshuibang in the north, zhuanbang in the middle and caoxiangbang in the south. There are wangjianong, zhujiashe, caojiayan, qianjiaxiang and other villages. The residents are engaged in farming. Since 1905, the concession authorities built seven roads, including yidingpan Road (now Jiangsu Road) and Yuyuan Road. Some Chinese and foreign people have built western style houses, villas and high-grade houses on both sides of the road, including Jingzhao villa, more than 70 buildings in Hongye garden, and Xiyuan building, a British style 9-story apartment. Since the 1920s, the number of residential buildings has increased year by year. Before liberation, 320 garden houses were built in the streets. There are Jinyuan, Yuguang village, Zhongyi village and Yuecun in the new lane. It was one of the high-grade residential areas in Western Shanghai at that time. During the Anti Japanese War, refugees from four townships built thatched cottages in caojiayan, zhujiashe and wangjianong. Some real estate developers have come here to buy land and build houses one after another. The new style lane is connected with the old style lane, and the western style villa is adjacent to the thatched cottage. In 1927, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) established the Department of Bolshevik at 418 hengchangli, Yuyuan Road (now No. 34, Lane 1376), headed by Qu Qiubai and Zhang Wentian. In 1984, the site was designated as a municipal cultural relics protection unit by the municipal government. In the 26th year of the Republic of China, a Hollywood playground was set up on Yuyuan Road, which was later renamed Hollywood Club (now Changning workers' Club), with 20 gambling tables. It is a famous casino in Western Shanghai. After the August 13 incident, the high-grade residential areas along Yuyuan Road became the main places where the Japanese invaders and Wang puppet leaders engaged in criminal activities. In the 28th year of the Republic of China, Wang Jingwei and his wife Chen Bijun gathered at No. 31, Lane 1136, Yuyuan Road (today's district children's Palace) to prepare for the establishment of the puppet regime. In the 36th year of the Republic of China, the Shanghai Bureau of the CPC Central Committee was established at No. 21, Yongle Village, Jiangsu Road (now Lane 389), with Liu Xiao as secretary and Liu Changsheng as deputy secretary. In June 1992, the municipal government approved it as a cultural relic protection unit in Shanghai. Before liberation, Jingxin nunnery and Dasheng temple were annihilated, while Fuyuan nunnery still existed. There are 132 factories including Rongfeng No.1 textile factory, Taili machinery factory, etc. Business is concentrated in the middle of Jiangsu Road, with 344 shops.
Community construction
After liberation in May 1949, the party and government organs at district level were set up in the streets. In 1953, caojiayan and xizhu'anbang were built into caojiayan road and Xuanhua road. Zhenning road and Anxi road were newly built. In the 1980s, the pavement of Tan Street was completely changed into concrete road. In 1956, there were 50 factories such as Shanghai No.7 textile machinery factory and Shanghai handling machinery factory, and 279 shops and institutions. In the 1980s, according to the opinions of the municipal and District People's representatives, the old lane of lane 427 on Changning Road was transformed, a new Changning village was built, and 1045 households were relocated. The new village has 2 18 storey residential buildings, 13 6-storey residential buildings, 1 kindergarten, 27 commercial houses, 4400 square meters of green space, and more than 10 scenic spots such as rockery, pavilions, bamboo groves and paths. The total investment is 21.67 million yuan and the total construction area is 59400 square meters. From 1950 to 1992, 594000 square meters of new residential buildings were built in the streets. In September 1992, Jiangsu Road, 1.7 km long, was widened from 14 m to 32-35 m, and all the old underground pipelines were replaced. At the same time, 134 shops and institutions along the road were demolished, and the remaining 145 were demolished. in 1992, there were 52 schools at all levels in the street, including 2 colleges and universities, 6 municipal key middle schools, Shanghai No.3 women's middle school, Yan'an middle school and other middle schools, 8 primary schools, 14 kindergartens and nurseries, and 22 schools for adult education, special education, art education, etc. There are three medical units: Tongren Hospital, staff hospital of electric power administration bureau and district hospital. All cinemas, clubs, cultural centers, children's palace, children's library, swimming pool, tennis court, etc. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, Bank of communications and people's Construction Bank of China are all located in the streets. There are 3 credit cooperatives, 4 securities companies and 1 Changning agency of Pacific Insurance Company.

There are more relatives from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, overseas Chinese, ethnic minorities, retired businessmen and celebrities from all walks of life. Jiangsu Road neighborhood committee is located in the north section of Jiangsu Road (Jiangsu Road 40a), adjacent to the East West Expressway in the north and Longshan underground commercial street in the south. There are Suzhou Road, Jiangsu Road, Guanxiang 1st Road and Guanxiang 2nd road. It covers an area of 0.21 square kilometers.
