Chaoyang District
Chaoyang District belongs to Beijing. Located in the east of Beijing, it is adjacent to Dongcheng District, Fengtai District and Haidian District in the west, Changping District and Shunyi District in the north, Tongzhou District in the East and Daxing District in the south. It covers an area of 470.8 square kilometers with an average altitude of 34 meters. It is the largest District in the central urban area of Beijing.
In 2019, Chaoyang District has 24 streets and 19 districts under its jurisdiction, with a permanent resident population of 3.473 million. The annual GDP is 711.64 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1% over the previous year at constant prices. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 310 million yuan, an increase of 49.5% over the previous year; the added value of the secondary industry was 49.65 billion yuan, an increase of 0.9% over the previous year; the added value of the tertiary industry was 661.67 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5% over the previous year. Chaoyang District is an important industrial base in Beijing. There are textile, electronics, chemical industry, machinery manufacturing, automobile manufacturing and other industrial bases in the area. Chaoyang District is an important foreign affairs area in Beijing with frequent foreign affairs activities. On August 13, 2019, Chaoyang District was selected as the pilot city for the construction of national urban medical consortium. On August 28, 2019, it will be included in the list of the fourth batch of pilot areas for the reform of home-based and community-based care services supported by the central government. On March 4, 2020, it was rated as the national new industrialization demonstration base by the Ministry of industry and information technology.
In June 2020, the Central Committee for the rule of law was selected as the first batch of national government construction demonstration areas and projects. On October 20, it was selected into the list of national double support model cities (counties).

In 1945, after the surrender of Japan, the original four suburbs of Peiping city were divided into eight suburbs, namely, the first, second, third, seventh and eighth suburbs of Peiping City, Daxing County and Tongxian County of Hebei Province. After the people's Government of North China moved to Beiping on February 20, 1949, it was divided into the 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th and 20th districts of Beiping City, Shunyi County and Tongxian County of Hebei Province. In June of that year, the division of Beiping city was adjusted. The fourteenth District in the eastern suburb was merged into the thirteenth District, the fifteenth and twenty third districts in the southern suburb were merged into the fourteenth District, and the nineteenth and twentieth districts in the northern suburb were merged into the seventeenth District, which respectively belonged to the thirteenth District, the fourteenth district and the seventeenth District, and Shunyi County and Tongxian County in Hebei Province.
In August 1950, the order of the seven districts in the suburbs of Beijing was changed to the 10th District to the 16th district, and then they were divided into the 10th District, the 11th district, the 14th District, and Shunyi County and Tongxian County of Hebei Province.
In September 1952, the fourteenth District of the northern suburbs was abolished, the Tenth District was renamed Dongjiao District, and the eleventh district was renamed Nanyuan district. They belong to Dongjiao district and Nanyuan District of Beijing, Shunyi County and Tongxian County of Hebei Province.
In August 1955, the districts of Chaoyang Gate, Dongbian gate and Guangqumen gate were adjusted, and their jurisdiction was divided into Dongjiao District, Dongdan District, Dongsi District, Nanyuan District of Beijing, Shunyi County and Tongxian County of Hebei Province.
In May 1958, the eastern suburb was renamed Chaoyang District.
