Xinhua Township

Xinhua Yi and Miao township is located in the northeast of the county. It spans 24 ° 43 ′ ~ 24 ° 59 ′ N and 100 ° 01 ′ ~ 100 ° 12 ′ e. the township government is located in Chiba village group of Xinhua Village, 107 km away from the county. The northeast is bounded by Heihuijiang River, facing Nanjian Yi Autonomous County and Weishan Yi Hui Autonomous County of Dali Prefecture, with Lushi town in the West and Xiaowan town across Lancang River in the south.

The terrain is long from north to south, east to west gorge, high mountains and deep valleys, three-dimensional climate prominent. A mountain is divided into four seasons, ten miles in different days. The whole territory is "three mountains, four depressions and seven slopes". The lowest elevation is 983 meters at the mouth of the branch river of Baila Wu, and the highest elevation is 2754 meters at Mt. Baila Jintang. The annual average temperature is 14 ℃, the annual average rainfall is 1300 mm, and the frost free period is 214 days. It covers an area of 319.74 square kilometers. The soil is mainly red and yellow, and the vegetation is mainly conifers such as Pinus yunnanensis, Quercus and shrubs. the main industries in Xinhua township are grain, tobacco, walnut, animal husbandry and so on. The grain industry is mainly corn, with few rice and wheat, broad beans, peas and other miscellaneous grains. Flue cured tobacco, walnut and animal husbandry are the three pillar industries of Xinhua. The income of each industry is nearly 10 million yuan, and the income of safflower is also good. As of 2017, there are 25532 permanent residents. There are eight ethnic minorities in Xinhua Township, including Yi, Miao, Bai and Lisu. The ethnic culture is colorful.
