Hexi Township

Hexi township is located in the north of Daying Jiangxi Province, Lianghe County. The township government is located in BangDu, 6 kilometers away from the county seat, which is adjacent to the Gucong Achang Township in the northeast, Jiubao Achang Township and Zhadao town in the East and Southeast, mangzhang township of Yingjiang County, Xincheng Township and Hehua town of Tengchong city in the West and northwest. There are 8 village committees in the township, with an average altitude of 1180 meters. The lowest altitude is 1055 meters for manglong village committee, and the highest altitude is 1930 meters for sanguojiang village committee. It is a village where mountains and dams coexist.

Hexi Township governs 55 natural villages and 94 villager groups with a total population of 18269 (2017). In 2002, Menglai village was listed as one of the seven ethnic poor villages with small population in Yunnan Province. Hexi township has a subtropical monsoon climate. The rainy season is mainly from May to September, with annual rainfall of 1300-1400mm and average temperature of 18.5 ℃. The hottest month is August, and the coldest month is January. The annual frost free period is 280 days. There are mainly three small rivers in the township, including bingsai River, laipa River and Menglai River; Daying river flows through the east side of Hexi Township from north to south. Because Hexi township is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, the river mainly originates in the northwest and flows to the southeast.

The township has a forest area of 75500 mu, mainly pine and Chinese fir, with a forest coverage rate of 56.40%; the township has a total of 27973 mu of arable land, with a total sown area of 36083 mu of crops in 2006 and a multiple cropping index of 129.78%; the mineral resources in the township mainly include tin, iron, zinc, sulfur, limestone, etc., which have been developed and utilized.

The effective irrigation area of the township is 11734, the total area of high and stable yield farmland is 4787 mu, and the per capita area of high and stable yield farmland is 0.26 mu.
