Fenggang town is under the jurisdiction of Ganzhou economic and Technological Development Zone, Jiangxi Province. In the first year of Taikang (280), Nan'an county was changed into Nankang County, belonging to the region of Nankang county.
In 1944, it was changed to Fenggang township.
In 1950, Fenggang was the Sixth District under the jurisdiction of 13 townships.
In 1952, Fenggang was the eighth district with 17 townships under its jurisdiction.

Fenggang town is located in the Middle East of Nankang District, adjacent to Panlong town in the East, Shangyou River in the south, Sanjiang Township across the river, Tangjiang town in the West and shibatang Township in the north. The territory is long and curved, with a maximum distance of 8 km from east to west and 14 km from north to south, covering a total area of 63 square kilometers. The land area is 54.6 square kilometers, accounting for 86.6%; the water area is 8.4 square kilometers, accounting for 13.4%.
