Jiangwan Town, belonging to Wujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the west of Wujiang District, adjacent to Luokeng, Qujiang District in the East, Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County in the South and West, and Longgui town in the north, with an administrative area of 243.8 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the total population of Jiangwan Town was 7701. As of June 2020, Jiangwan Town has jurisdiction over one community and six administrative villages.
In 2004, the total industrial and agricultural output value of Jiangwan Town was 99 million yuan, including 60 million yuan of industrial output value, 39 million yuan of agricultural output value, 3460 yuan of rural per capita net income, and 3.8 million yuan of township level financial revenue.
Historical evolution
Jiangwan market was set up in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.
Jiangwan township was established in 1928, which was under the jurisdiction of the Sixth District of Qujiang County.
After the founding of new China, Jiangwan township was under the jurisdiction of Longgui district.
In June 1961, Jiangwan was separated from Longgui district and Jiangwan people's commune was established.
In 1964, huwu, Shitang, Hongshan, Liangwu and other administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County were put under the jurisdiction of Jiangwan people's commune of Qujiang County.
In November 1983, it was called JiangWan District Office.
In December 1986, the district was withdrawn and renamed Jiangwan township.

Jiangwan Town is rich in forest resources and an important forestry base in Wujiang district. Jiangwan river has large drop, small flow variation and abundant hydraulic resources, and the river flows eastward into Beijiang River. In 1992, it was listed as a key town for hydropower development in Qujiang County. The installed hydropower capacity of Jiangwan water system for development is 197.2 million kilowatts. At present, only 3510 kW is developed, accounting for 17.8% of the developable power.
The mineral resources include tungsten, pyrite, copper, lead-zinc, rare earth, fluorite, etc.

At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, there was a market in Jiangwan, which was the main distribution center for villagers to exchange local products and daily products. At the end of 2004, the roads leading to the administrative villages in the town were all gravel roads except for concrete roads in Nankeng and Heshan.
