Historical evolution

Name and origin

When the people's commune was founded in 1961, it got its name because it was located between baifuling (1003 meters above sea level) and ziding mountain (1415 meters above sea level). Standing on the top of the mountain, it could see Guiyang County in the South and Hengyang City in the north. It had a bright future.

Evolution of administrative districts

Ming Jiajing six years (1527), home North Township. In 1682, the system of capital and Li was implemented in Guiyang, which was subordinate to Juren dushaqiaoli. In 1914, a regiment was set up by withdrawing capital. Shaqiaoli was directly under the Dafu regiment. In 1930, the regiment was withdrawn and divided into seven districts. In 1938, the district was withdrawn and the township was set up, which was subordinate to Tanyuan township. In 1949, it belonged to fufu township. In 1956, it belonged to Xiama township. In 1958, it belonged to Lianlu people's commune. In May 1961, it was set up Guangming people's commune. In 1984, the township system was restored to Guangming township.

At the end of 2011, the total population of the jurisdiction was 16099, of which 8500 were male, accounting for 52.8%, and 7599 were female, accounting for 47.2%. There were 3751 people under 14 years old, accounting for 23.3%; 9370 people between 15 and 60 years old, accounting for 58.2%; and 2978 people over 60 years old, accounting for 18.5%. In the total population, 15971 people (99.2%) are Han nationality, and 128 people (0.8%) are Yao nationality. In 2011, the birth rate was 11.8 ‰, the death rate was 6 ‰, and the natural growth rate was 5.8 ‰.
