Ma'an town is located in the north of Huitong County, bordering Xiaojia and Jinlong townships in the East, Baozi and pingcun towns in the south, Baotian Township in the west, Hongjiang City and Tuokou towns in the north. The town government is located in Xiangjian village, 29 kilometers away from the county. National Highway 209 and zhiliu railway pass through the territory, known as "Huitong North Gate".
It has 16 administrative villages including Nichi, Yanglong, Dongzhi, Baochong, Xiangjian, Huangtu, Ma'an, Beichang, Dajin, tempan, Longshan, naoxi, Liushan, Matian, Tangjia, Huangjia, and qingjiangxi neighborhood committee, 133 village name groups, with a population of 12014 (2017), including 9947 Dong, Miao and other ethnic minorities, accounting for 78.1% of the total population, and 284 non-agricultural population. The total area is 120.86 square kilometers (2017), with cultivated land area of 10151.61 Mu and mountainous area of 143000 mu.

Industrial Development
Qingjiangxi and naotangxi rivers pour Yuanshui into Jiangshi. The land along the river is fertile and convenient for irrigation and drainage. They are the main agricultural areas in the territory. The main minerals are gold and zinc. The forest coverage rate of the whole town is 78.24%, with Cunninghamia lanceolata, pine forest, Phyllostachys pubescens, broad-leaved trees, miscellaneous trees, etc. Chinese chestnut, red bayberry, Eucommia ulmoides and other medicinal trees have an annual output of 20 tons of tea oil, 5000 cubic meters of wood and 50000 Phyllostachys pubescens.
Facilities construction
There are 5 small (2) type reservoirs with water conservancy facilities, with a total water storage capacity of 520000 cubic meters, and 90% of the farmland in the town is guaranteed to receive drought and flood. Completed in 1978, the Matian reservoir has a rainfall area of 10 cubic kilometers and a storage capacity of 100000 cubic meters. It has a hydropower station with a total installed capacity of 50 kilowatts. Completed in 1979, the Longshan reservoir has a rainfall area of 30.1 square kilometers and a storage capacity of 100000 cubic meters. It has a hydropower station with a total installed capacity of 125 kilowatts.
History of construction
Ma'an belonged to Yanglong Township, Pingjian Township and Limu Township on the eve of the founding of the people's Republic of China. Ma'an people's commune was established in 1958 and its residence is Ma'an village. In April 1978, the residence of Ma'an people's commune was moved to Xiangjian village. In spring 1984, the commune was changed into a township. On September 24, 2002, Ma'an town was established from township. Saddle is named for its topography. During the Long March, under the leadership of he long and Xiao Ke, the 2nd and 6th Red Army regiments passed through Yanglong, Xiangjian, Huangtu, Ma'an, Dajin and temporary village of Ma'an. There were battles at Shuikou nunnery, where eight Red Army soldiers died. The existing ruins are the wind and rain of the red army and the memorial Pavilion for Red Army martyrs.
Folk specialty
On the Lantern Festival every year, there are folk customs such as dancing dragon's head and board lamp, singing Han Opera and playing waist drum. Specialty: goat, waxberry, gingko, camellia oil, yulanpian, bamboo shoots, etc., of which goats sell well in Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Guangdong, Chongqing and other provinces.

At the head of Fengyu bridge of the Red Army in Huangtu village, a thousand year old beech, together with Huaihe and Nvzhen, stands tall. It is said that there are seven kinds of trees in one place. In the ancient beech trees, there are bamboos, jelly, palm trees and yam ginger, forming a unique landscape of trees in trees.

The industry mainly focuses on bamboo and wood processing and small hydropower development. The installed capacity of hydropower is 175 kW, and the annual power generation is more than 400000 kwh. There are 13 bamboo and wood processing enterprises, with Guanghui wood industry as the leader, and the annual output value is more than 10 million yuan.

In 2005, there were 408 students in Ma'an middle school, 6 teaching classes and 30 teaching staff. There were 683 students in primary school and 51 staff. The enrollment rate was 99.4%. There is a cultural radio and television station in the town. In 2005, there were 428 cable TV households, accounting for 11% of the total number of households. The Ma'an central health center covers an area of 425 square meters, with a building area of 780 square meters. It has 23 beds, 11 medical staff, new X-ray machines, B-ultrasound machines and other medical equipment.
