Liu Hulan town is named after the heroine Liu Hulan. Liuhulan town is located in the east of Wenshui County and the West Bank of Fenhe River, at the intersection of Wenshui, Qingxu, Qixian and Pingyao. It is only 65km away from Taiyuan, 17km away from wenshuikou of Xiafen expressway, and 10km away from qixiankou of Dayun Expressway. The town governs 23 administrative villages, with a population of 42614 (2017), cultivated land of more than 70000 mu, profound cultural heritage, superior geographical location and vast development hinterland, of which the town area is 3.4 square kilometers, with a permanent resident population of nearly 10000. Liuhulan village is the seat of the town government, with a population of 2200 and cultivated land of 3500 mu. It is the regional cultural center and transportation hub in the east of Wenshui County.

Liuhulan town is a strong agricultural town, and its industrial development is mainly planting, breeding and processing of agricultural and sideline products. The town has built 30000 mu of standardized farmland and 60000 mu of high-quality forage corn. The vegetable planting area is 6000 mu, and the development facility vegetable area is 1000 mu. The area of pear is 6000 mu. Baijiu produces 20 thousand tons of raw liquor annually.

Liuhulan town was selected into the list of demonstration construction of strong agricultural towns in 2018.

In addition, there are two livestock and poultry pharmaceutical enterprises of Huahui pharmaceutical and Yixintai Technology Co., Ltd., which have passed the GMP certification of the Ministry of agriculture, and four large-scale agricultural and animal husbandry machinery processing enterprises. In 2006, the output of meat products was 6400 tons, the output of Baijiu was 9800 tons, and the output of dairy products and other beverages was 1000 tons.
