In 1937, Qi's hometown was established. In 1958, it was merged into Xianfeng commune. In 1959, it was changed into Qingshan commune. In 1984, Qingshan Tu nationality township was established. In 1985, it was changed to Qingshan township. In August 2006, Xishan township was abolished and merged into Qingshan township. In October 2019, Qingshan Township governs 16 administrative villages.
