Xinnong township. On the South Bank of uyur, it is adjacent to Bei'an city in the East and North. The township government is 30 kilometers away from the county seat. Originally under the jurisdiction of Yugang district. In April 1956, the division of township was removed and four townships, Xinnong and Yugang, were set up. In September 1958, Yugang people's commune was established. In June 1961, the eastern area of Yugang commune was set up as a new agricultural commune. In March 1984, it was changed into Xinnong township.
Xinnong township is close to Wuyuer River in the north. It is low-lying and easy to waterlogging. The central and Southern Hills are undulating and the soil is fertile. The cultivated area is 120000 mu, mainly producing wheat and soybean. In 1992, the total output value of township enterprises was 15.2 million yuan. The township governs 12 villages, including Beixing, Xinfa, Xinjia, Dongfeng, Yongjiu, Xinquan, Minsheng, Zhongliang, Minzhu, Linhe, Xinmin and Fulu. In 1990, the total population of the township was 13900. The township government is located in Dongfeng Village.
