Licao town is located in the east of Huozhou area, with a long history, rich resources, rich products and convenient transportation. It is 10 kilometers away from the urban area, with a total area of 203.95 square kilometers, which is the largest township in Huozhou. The town has 32 administrative villages with a population of 27163 (2017) and a cultivated area of 35484 mu.

Licao town is rich in mineral resources. There are more than 10 kinds of proven mineral resources, especially sillimanite, quartzite and phosphate rock. The reserves of sillimanite, quartzite and phosphate rock are 2 million tons, 100 million tons and 70000 tons respectively. There are also large reserves of limestone, copper, dolomite and rare elements and other resources. In addition, the town is rich in water resources, good water quality, single well daily water production of more than 400 tons.

The natural scenery of licao town is unique. Huoshan ecological scenic spot is one of the top ten famous mountains in ancient China. The main scenic spots are qiliyu, Xuanquan mountain, etc. at the same time, there are Hanbi ruins, Longhu Mountain and other scenic spots. There are Shanxi tea, wild vegetables, edible fungus and other special products. Qiliyu scenic spot has the reputation of "natural oxygen bar, green lung in North China". In 1992, it was identified as a national forest park. With flowing water, floating white clouds, thousand Ren stone wall, natural forest is luxuriant and leafy, natural pasture is green, heaven and earth landscape, forest and pasture are integrated, which is the best place of "forest bath". Xuanquan mountain scenic spot is named for the natural wonder of Xuanquan waterfall. In the mountains, the jade spring is green, the rare stones and cypresses are picturesque, the mountains are steep, the peaks are strange, and the pines and cypresses are evergreen. Hanbi site preserves cultural relics from Longshan culture period to Western Zhou Dynasty. There is a provincial famous tree, Pinus bungeana, in the site. It was announced as a provincial key cultural relic protection unit by Shanxi Provincial People's Government in 2004.

The whole town has 5000 mu of Apple planting area, 1200 mu of rare fruit, more than 1000 mu of walnut and jujube trees, and 1300 mu of medicinal materials; the development of animal husbandry is good. It has formed 18 cattle, sheep and pig breeding areas, one thousand chicken farm and one 500 cattle farm, and the transportation industry has been steadily promoted. Qilin Expressway passes through Yangzao village. The 4.5km xuanquanshan tourist road leads directly to the tourist attractions. The construction of qiliyu scenic spot tourist road with an investment of 35 million yuan has started. The hardened roads of all villages in the town have formed a network. Social public welfare undertakings are booming. More than 100 biogas users have been built, 1800 mu of medium and low yield agricultural fields have been transformed, and 8000 mu of fine varieties have been popularized. There are two middle schools and three boarding schools in the town. The telephone basically reached every village.
