Historical evolution

In Song Dynasty, Sanjiangkou town was subordinate to wangjiangli and yanshouli in Tang'an township of Putian County. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was subordinate to wangjiangli and yanshouli. During the period of the Republic of China, it was subordinate to the Second District, which was divided into Xinpu Township, tiezao Township, Houguo Township, Jingshan Township, Yankou Township, Xilin Township and duotou township; later it was divided into Sanjiang joint insurance; after the joint insurance was abolished, it was also called Sanjiu Township. In 1943, it was designated Wangjiang Township until liberation.
