Longtan town
Longtan is called "lioubdangs" in Miao language, which means watery land. Located in the center of Huayuan County, Hunan Province. It borders Daoer Township in the East, Tuanjie town in the northeast, yaqiao Township in the southeast, Maoer Township in the southwest and Chadong town in the northwest, with a total area of 59.69 square kilometers.

Longtan town is located in the southwest of Huayuan County, about 20 kilometers away from the county. Huamin highway runs through the East and west of the town. Longya highway and tuanlong highway meet here, so the traffic is very convenient. The town governs 16 administrative villages, 1 neighborhood committee and 110 villager groups, with a total population of 15126 (in 2017) and a total area of 59.69 square kilometers.
The cultivated area is 10820 mu, including 6379 mu of paddy field and 4441 mu of dry soil. The annual average temperature is 15.4 ℃, and the annual average rainfall is 1500 mm. The town is rich in mineral resources, with a total lead-zinc reserves of 9.2681 million tons, ranking first in the county.

There are 14 mining areas, 25 tailing ponds and 64 flotation enterprises in the town. It is an important industrial town in Huayuan County.

Topography and climate
The terrain is high in the East, North and West, low in the south, with an average altitude of 500-600 meters. The annual rainfall is 147.49 mm, and the annual average temperature is 28.2 ℃.
natural resources
The town is rich in mineral resources and large lead-zinc deposits. The main mining areas are Limei, Tudi and genong villages, with industrial reserves of 1.131 million tons and prospective reserves of 8.7248 million tons, ranking first in the county.
Township Construction
During the year, the construction situation of small towns was gratifying. A new Xinglong Street of 1700 meters was built, the width of subgrade was 16 meters, 10 house foundations were auctioned, and ancillary facilities such as drainage and greening were steadily carried out. Longtan River, the main stream, originated at the foot of houwanchong mountain in Tudi village and converged into brother river in sacrai village. During the year, the government bonds were used to reconstruct the river course and solve the flood. There are 800 individual businesses with 2400 employees and a registered capital of 10 million yuan. There are 21 concentrators with more than 3000 employees and an annual output value of 70 million yuan. In 2003, the total output value of industry and agriculture was 100 million yuan, including 80 million yuan of industrial output value, 20 million yuan of agricultural output value, 3.8 million yuan of fiscal revenue and 1400 yuan of per capita net income of farmers.
