Kowloon Peninsula
Kowloon, geographically known as the Kowloon Peninsula, is one of the three major regions of Hong Kong, China (Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories). It is a major part of the urban area except Hong Kong Island. The Kowloon Peninsula is surrounded by Victoria Harbour on the southeast and west sides. In the past, due to the lease problem between Britain and China, it was once divided into "Kowloon" (south of Boundary Street) and "New Kowloon" (north of Boundary Street and south of Lion Rock).
However, since the Sino British negotiations have made the future of Hong Kong clear, the division of "New Kowloon" is no longer meaningful. Therefore, both sides are now called "Kowloon". However, at present, some properties in New Kowloon, like those in the new territories, have to pay government rent to the HKSAR government.
Like Hong Kong island separated by the sea, Kowloon is an indispensable part of the prosperous urban area of Hong Kong. Among them, Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok (referred to as Yau Tsim Mong) are the most attractive. These areas have all kinds of shopping, catering, entertainment and culture, which are basically the same as Hong Kong Island. Famous business center

Kowloon is a peninsula located in the north port, and Tsim Sha Tsui is the place where most tourists gather. The area of Hong Kong Island is 78 square kilometers, accounting for only 7% of the total land area of Hong Kong.
The East and west of Kowloon are densely populated industrial areas, with residential areas in the north and famous commercial areas in the south. Kai Tak Airport, one of the world's busiest airports, is located in Kowloon and is now a tourist park.

Historical development
The name of Jiulong comes from such an allusion. It is said that once upon a time, there was a son of heaven on a tour. When he came to Kowloon, he looked around, but when he saw the eight mountains around him, he wanted to use the "eight dragons" to kill him. His entourage reminded the emperor that he was the dragon among the people and should be nine dragons, so the emperor named the place "Kowloon".
In 1860, the Qing government was defeated by the British and French allied forces in the second Opium War (i.e. the battle of the British and French allied forces), and signed the "Treaty of Beijing" to cede the southern part of the Kowloon Peninsula to Britain together with the adjacent Stonecutters Island. At that time, the new boundary on the Kowloon Peninsula was only divided by a low barbed wire fence, which is located in today's Boundary Street. In 1898, Britain signed a series of lease agreements with the Qing government to lease more than 200 outlying islands in the northern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, the new territories and adjacent areas, except for the Kowloon Walled City. The lease term was 99 years.
In 1937, the government began to delimit the new territories north of Boundary Street and south of Kowloon hills as New Kowloon, making the area of Kowloon close to its present appearance. The West Kowloon Reclamation Project in the 1990s not only greatly increased the area of Kowloon, but also connected the Kowloon Peninsula with Stonecutters Island.
geographical position
The Kowloon Peninsula is located on the east side of the Pearl River Estuary to the south of Guangdong Province, China, facing off Hong Kong Island across the sea. It is also called dapengshan. It is under the jurisdiction of Hong Kong. It covers an area of 7.7 square kilometers. There are many hills on the island, with Dawu Mountain as the highest. In 1860, Britain occupied the area of Jiansha Tsui at the southern end of the peninsula. In 1898, Britain forced to rent the area south of Shenzhen River in the northern part of the peninsula and nearby islands. Located at the southern tip of the peninsula, the main city of Kowloon returned to China in 1997.

regional planning
The Kowloon Peninsula is part of Hongkong, located on the Chinese mainland on the northern side of Hongkong island. The peninsula is surrounded by Victoria Harbor in the East, South and West. The main areas are Tsim Sha Tsui (located in the front of the peninsula, where many hotels, such as the peninsula hotel with a long history), Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok (one of the most densely populated districts on earth), San Po Kong, Kwun Tong and Kowloon City. Since the 1950s, Kowloon has become an industrial center (especially the textile industry) and a competitor of Victoria tourist center on Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong International Airport is located in the East and west of the Kowloon Peninsula, and the Kowloon wharf handles ocean going ships. According to the survey and Mapping Office of the Hong Kong Lands Department in December 2003, Kowloon covers an area of 46.93 square kilometers. There are five districts under its jurisdiction, each of which has its own District Council:
In the history of Kowloon City, Kwun Tong District, Sham Shui Po District, Wong Tai Sin District and Yau Tsim Mong District, the boundary between New Kowloon and the new territories was a straight line, but now it is reversed. "Kowloon" refers to the sum of the above five districts. With the revision of district boundaries of district boards, the scope of Kowloon has also changed.
Since 1998, there have been two constituencies for the Legislative Council Election:
Kowloon East: including Wong Tai Sin District and Kwun Tong District (2004: 5 seats; reduced by 1 seat in 2008); Kowloon West: including Yau Tsim Mong District, Sham Shui Po District and Kowloon City District (2004: 4 seats; increased by 1 seat in 2008). The number of seats in election constituencies depends on the population. The number of seats in individual constituencies may change due to the increase or decrease of population.
In 1995, the Legislative Council Election of Hong Kong also used the division of "Kowloon Central", "Kowloon East", "Kowloon south", "Kowloon West", "Kowloon northeast", "Kowloon northwest" and "Kowloon southwest".

About songs
Song of seven sons: Kowloon
My brother Hong Kong is complaining about his pain,
Mother, do you remember your little daughter?
Since I married the devil of Zhenhai,
I have never been in tears one day!
Mother, I count the auspicious days of returning to Ningxia every day,
I'm afraid that my hope will turn into an empty dream.
Mother! I'm coming back, mother!
