Nanshan street, belonging to Nanshan District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southwest of Nanshan District. It is the seat of Nanshan District government, covering an area of 23.9 square kilometers. As of 2017, Nanshan street had a permanent population of 368 thousand and 900, with a registered residence of 138 thousand and 600 people. As of June 2020, Nanshan street has 14 communities under its jurisdiction.

Historical evolution
In the Qing Dynasty, Nanshan street was the jurisdiction of Dian Shi Guan in Xin'an County, including Duntou village, Nannan village, Cangqian village, Beitou village, Nanshan village, long village (now henglonggang and Nanguang) and guimiao Village (now guimiao)
During the period of the Republic of China, the region initially belonged to Nanxiang, Beitou, Nanyuan and Nanshan townships in the first district of Bao'an County, then to Nanyuan and Nanxia townships in the first district, and then to Nantou town in the first district. In 1975, Nanshan brigade was divided into Nanshan brigade and Nantou brigade, belonging to Nanshan brigade, Nantou brigade and Beitou brigade of Nantou commune.
In January 1979, it belonged to Nantou commune, Nantou District, Shenzhen.
In August 1981, it belonged to Nantou commune of Luohu District.
On October 17, 1983, Nanshan office was set up under Nantou District of Shenzhen city. Nanshan office was established since then.
In September 1990, Nanshan District was established, and Nanshan office was renamed Nanshan street, which belongs to Nanshan District.

In November 1983, the brigade was changed into a village, including Nanshan Village (part of the former Nanshan brigade), Nanyuan Village (part of the former Nanshan brigade), Nannan Village (part of the former Nannan brigade), Nanguang Village (part of the former Nannan brigade), Beitou village and Duntou residents committee (part of the former Nannan brigade). Nanshan street is located in the southwest of Nanshan District, bordering Yuehai street from Nanyou Avenue (now Nanhai Avenue) in the East, Qianhai and Mawan in the west, near the Pearl River Estuary, Mawan coast in the south, youpaotai road across Xinghai Road, drainage ditch along the great Nanshan ridge line, the intersection of Nanyou Avenue, Dongbin Road and Industrial Avenue (i.e. the red line of Shekou Industrial Zone), and zhaoshang street in the south Fu road connects Yanhai road to qianhaibin, adjacent to Nantou street, with a total area of 23.9 square kilometers.

The connection of the Western Corridor crosses the district from east to west, and Pingnan railway runs through the district from north to south. In 1949, when the people's Republic of China was founded, there were Nanshan primary school and Nanfang primary school in Baoshan county. In 1962, Chiwan primary school was founded.
After 1983, Nanshan sub district office increased investment in education. In 1985, Nanyuan, Nanguang, Nannan, Nanshan and Beitou villages raised 63000 yuan for land acquisition, scale expansion and teaching equipment purchase. The office, together with Beitou and Nanshan villages, also raised more than 4600 yuan to set up a kindergarten. In 1986, Nanyuan and Nanshan villages set up one kindergarten each. In 1988, the board of directors of Nanshan, Nannan and other village schools was set up to raise 51000 yuan of education fund, donate more than 10000 yuan (including materials) for teachers' day, schools and kindergartens, and 12000 yuan for schools in earthquake stricken areas in Yunnan.
