Liujiayuan town is located at the foot of Luoyun mountain in Hongdong county at the south foot of Luliang Mountain, with a total area of 92 square kilometers. There are 23 administrative villages, 19 rural Party branches, 27000 people, 50000 mu of cultivated land, including more than 1000 mu of irrigated land. It is a typical hilly and arid area with rich coal resources. There is a state-owned coal mine Huipodi mine in the town, with an annual production capacity of 800000 tons.

General situation

Liujiayuan town is located in the hilly area in the northwest of Hongdong County, 25 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to di village in the East, Shantou Township in the west, Wan'an town in the South and Fenxi County in the north.

Liujiayuan town has convenient transportation, two major highways, shisan line and Zhaoke road run through the town, which is the throat of Xishan coal resources export.

In 1958, when it became a commune, it belonged to Luliang commune (including shuangchang commune and Shantou commune). In 1961, it was divided into liujiayuan commune, Huipodi commune, shuangchang commune and antou commune.

In 1964, liujiayuan and Huipodi commune merged, which was called liujiayuan commune. In April 1984, it was changed into a town.

Most of the town is located between the three beams of Maoer Mountain, Luoyun mountain and Haojia mountain, the branch of Luliang Mountain, and the three seasonal rivers of michuan, Wuyang and Xiaoyu. The whole terrain is high in the West and low in the East, with rolling hills and gullies all over the town.
