Yanmenguan Township

Old town name. See Yanmenguan town for details. Yanmenguan township is located in Banpo mountain area, northwest of Daixian County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, 15 kilometers away from the county seat, connecting Yuanping in the West and Shanyin and Shuozhou in the north.

Yanmenguan township has 28 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, including 22 poor villages and 5751 permanent residents (in 2017), with a total land area of 181.87 square kilometers, including 28600 mu of cultivated land. The agricultural planting industry is mainly characterized by small grains planting and dry and fresh fruit planting.

Baicaokou Township

Baicaokou commune was established in 1961 and changed to township in 1984. Located in the northwest of the county, 30 kilometers away from the county. With an area of 86.5 square kilometers and a population of 18000, it governs 15 administrative villages, namely baicaokou, Liulin (Dongwan), laoxinggou, Wangzhuang, qinzhuang, Xiaogou, Shuigou, Zhaozhuang, mabudaogou, houyaopu, Dayugou, Yanmenguan, fujiaping, Luozhuang and gaoergou (huangcaoyan). Historic sites include the ancient Great Wall and Yanmen pass.

Shangtian Township

It belonged to taiheyu commune in 1961, Shangtian commune in 1981 and township in 1984. Located in the west of the county, 8 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 116.2 square kilometers and has a population of 6000. It has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages: Shangtian, Dianshang, Xiduan village, Chenjiazhuang, shidaokou, Nankou, qianyaopu (Hongyao), taihelingkou (gujia Village), chengshang (zhengbeigou, shiqiangou, fulagou, shipogou), heishitougou (Wujiayao), niudagou, beiwangzhuang, Zhangjiahe, xiwayaotou, Xinzhuang and Yezhuang. In 2001, baicaokou Township and Shangtian Township were merged to establish Yanmenguan township. It has a population of 7800 and an area of 202.7 square kilometers. In 2019, Yanmenguan township will be removed and Yanmenguan town will be established.

In the past five years, the whole township has adhered to the policy of "prospering agriculture through base, development, science and technology, and industry", conscientiously implemented the central government's spirit of strengthening the basic position of agriculture and accelerating agricultural development, and always took strengthening the construction of agricultural infrastructure and improving agricultural production conditions as important measures to promote the sustainable development of agriculture. First of all, we paid close attention to the basic construction of irrigation and water conservancy. We drilled 8 new deep wells, repaired and restored 15 mechanical wells, buried 13000 meters of water-saving pipes, built 12000 meters of new irrigation channels, added and improved 2600 mu of irrigated land, initially treated 2000 mu of soil and water conservation, transformed 1650 mu of medium and low yield farmland, cultivated 11300 mu in autumn, 1403 people and 285 large livestock in Nankou, Chenjiazhuang and Wangzhuang villages, and solved the problem of drinking water. Secondly, in terms of road construction, the 90km village roads involving 16 villages have all been hardened, exceeding the tasks assigned by the county Party committee and the county government for three consecutive years.

Characteristic industry

In the aspect of characteristic agricultural planting, we should focus on the promotion of new agricultural technologies and vigorously adjust the agricultural industrial structure. The first is to develop 2000 mu of corn seed production with Shangtian as the center; the second is to develop 3000 mu of superior millet with Xiwu village as the center; the third is to develop 1000 mu of red kidney bean with baicaokou and Liulin as the center. In addition, 4500 mu of plastic film mulching, 26000 mu of superior varieties and 15000 mu of formula fertilization were promoted. The planting area of corn in the township was more than 6000 mu every year, and the yield accounted for more than 35% of the total grain yield. At the same time, it also focused on the implementation of the project of returning farmland to forests, covering an area of 2350 mu. In addition, the amount of pigs, sheep and large livestock is increasing year by year, the income of animal husbandry accounts for 30% of the total income, and the industrial chain of "forest, grass and livestock" is basically formed.

Travel

There are many famous cultural relics such as Yanmenguan and the inner Great Wall of Ming Dynasty. There are also many cultural relics such as Zhou Enlai's and Yan Xishan's negotiation cave and Li Chuang Wang's knife testing stone. The tourism advantage is obvious.
