Fu town is located in the Northeast suburb of Fengshun County, Meizhou city. It is a mountainous and hilly area with pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. There are Li feng'an, Confucian temple, former residence of national hero Xu Minghong and other tourist attractions. It is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese.

Attached towns have 15 village committees, 91 natural villages and more than 41500 people. The total area of the town is 780000 square kilometers, including 17500 mu of cultivated land. In October 2004, Fengshun County abolished five towns: Fucheng town and Donglian town were merged into tangkeng town. Tangkeng town covers an area of 233.23 square kilometers, with 9 community neighborhood committees and 32 village committees. There are 41859 households and 136170 people in the town. In 2002, tangkeng town was rated as electroacoustic professional town by the Provincial Department of science and technology, and was listed as one of the provincial central towns by the Department of construction; on September 28, 2004, tangkeng town was approved by the Provincial Department of science and technology and the Department of construction as "Guangdong Province Urbanization technology integrated application demonstration pilot unit"; in 2003, tangkeng Productivity Promotion Center was established by the Provincial Department of science and technology, and was approved as "Guangdong Province mountainous area informatization demonstration unit" by the Provincial Department of information industry In 2005, it was approved by the Provincial Department of science and technology as the "provincial urbanization technology integrated application pilot town"; it was approved by the provincial economic and Trade Commission as one of the province's ten industrial cluster towns; in 2007, it was approved as the first batch of "provincial industry university research demonstration towns".
