Origin of village name
Donglou Township governs seven villages: Donglou, Xilou, Nanxiao, Beixiao, Qianhao, houhao and Duanzhuang. Because of the relative concentration, it is commonly known as "southeast northwest front and rear section, ride the car around.". According to the ancient stele records, there was "WangXuan building" in the Sui Dynasty, so it was named "Lou village". In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368), the Muma river overflowed and changed its way from Zhijun, which was called "Mahe". Wangxuanlou was destroyed. From this, the village was divided into two villages, East and West, and is still in use today. From the Tang Dynasty to the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Nanxiao village and Beixiao village were originally called "Xiao village". Later, because some villagers moved northward to build the village, they were divided into two. Later, "Xiao" was simplified as Xiao village. Before and after Hao village, Guangxu's Zhili Xinzhou annals recorded as "houhouhe village", while the village annals said that before Ming Dynasty, the surname Hao was a big family, so it was named after the surname. Later, Hao's family moved to Hebei at the end of Yuan Dynasty, and the name of the village is still used today. The present residents are all from Hongdong of Linfen and Mayi of Shuozhou in the early Ming Dynasty. In the early years of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, because of different opinions on the location of Sansheng temple, it was divided into Qianhao village and houhao village. Duanzhuang village is recorded as "ZHUJIAZHUANG" in Qianlong's Zhili Xinzhou annals. The word "Zhuo" has many tones. Here we should read "Xia", one of the ancient surnames. There is no evidence to prove why "juejiazhuang" was renamed as "duanjiazhuang".
