Hekou town
Hekou Town, subordinate to Qianshan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the north of Qianshan County, adjacent to Ehu town in the East, Wanger town in the west, Yongping town and Hongqiao Township in the south, and Xintan Township across the Xinjiang River in the north. With an area of 68 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 5 communities and 12 administrative villages, 121 resident groups and 85 natural villages. At the end of 2019, the Hekou town area had 71 thousand and 100 permanent residents, of whom 54 thousand and 100 were urban registered residence population, and the urbanization rate was 76.11%.
Hekou Town, together with Jingdezhen, Zhangshu town and Wucheng Town, is known as the four famous towns in Jiangxi Province in history. It has preserved relatively complete ancient streets of Ming and Qing Dynasties and a large number of buildings of Jiangxi School.
By the end of 2018, there were 45 industrial enterprises in Hekou town and 42 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
Hekou town is a millennium old town, known as "Shawan city" in ancient times. It has only two or three shops, which is a rural regular polder.
Ming Wanli ten years (1582), built today's name. At that time, Hekou Town, with an area of 6 square kilometers, entered a period of great development of prospering commerce by river and prospering streets by commerce. Hekou town became a "eight province wharf" with "miscellaneous skills, boats and cars, merchants gathering and five places", the first town of "ten thousand mile tea ceremony" in China and Russia, and one of the four famous towns in Jiangxi Province.
On May 4, 1949, Hekou was liberated and the CPC Hekou Municipal Committee and municipal people's government were established under the jurisdiction of the Northeast District of East China Bureau. In June 1949, Hekou was restored to a town under the jurisdiction of the county. In July, Hekou was moved from Yongping.
In October 1958, Hekou Town People's commune was established.
In April 1984, the community was withdrawn and restored to a town, with jurisdiction over eight communities, namely liberation, democracy, peace, unity, rejuvenation, unity, victory and Chengnan, and three villages, namely Minhe, Qinghu and Hanjia.
In December 2001, Fuhui Township and Hekou tea farm were incorporated into Hekou town.

In 2010, tanhe village was relocated from Tianzhushan township to Hekou town near the tea farm due to the construction needs of Luntan water control project.
In December 2013, tanhe village was officially put under the jurisdiction of Hekou Town People's government and renamed as tanhe village of Hekou town.

The highest point is located in tongqiangang, Gaoling village, with an altitude of 469 meters, and the lowest point is located in the sandy land on the South Bank of Xinjiang River, Chaijia village, with an altitude of 43.1 meters. The Southern Hills are luxuriant in trees, mainly Pinus elliottii, Camellia oleifera, miscellaneous trees and other tree species, forming a green corridor.

The Xinjiang River flows from east to west, passing through the north to Chaijia village and running to Wanger town in the West.

The origin of place names
Hekou is named after the confluence of Xinjiang River and Qianshan River, and the town is named after the seat of the government.
