Hekou town
Hekou town is a place name. There are towns with the same name in 17 provinces, including Anhui Province, Sichuan Province (2), Jiangsu Province, Hubei Province and Shanxi Province. Due to the influence of natural conditions and different local policy planning, there are differences in the development and construction of each town.
In 2017, the administrative area of Hekou town was 4941 hectares, with 21781 permanent residents.
geographical environment
Hekou town is located 40 kilometers southwest of Huoqiu County, on the West Bank of the confluence of Fenghe River and Chahe river.
During the Xianfeng and Tongzhi periods of the Qing Dynasty, there were 48 salt and grain stores with convenient waterways and prosperous commerce. There were 2000 merchants and more than 200 merchant ships every day, with a daily throughput of 1 million catties. The ancient buildings include Shanxi guild hall and Hubei guild hall, 8 temples, one east and one West Zhu pagoda, and 6 stone archways; now only Tangzi temple is left, and the rest is abandoned. During the period of the Republic of China, the Yellow River and Huaihe River were irrigated backward, the river bed was silted and the commerce declined.
Before the founding of new China, there were more than 1500 private rental houses (25000 square meters) in Hekou town. There were five streets, including dougang Road, Laobei street, Zhongjie street, Xijie street and Xiaobei street. The mud sand pavement was 5 to 6 meters wide and 1600 meters long, covering an area of 0.42 square kilometers. From 1983 to 1985, the local government raised funds to widen the old North Street, middle street and West Street, and paved residual oil pavement, 1650 meters long and 6-7 meters wide. In 1985, a new street with xiaobeitou as the starting point was built, extending 1500 meters westward along the highway and 8-12 meters wide.
In 1987, the town covers an area of 1.05 square kilometers. There are 5182 residents in the town and 2122 farmers in vegetable village.
From 1949 to 1955, the unit building area of the town was 4975 square meters. From 1956 to 1965, it was 5182 square meters. From 1986 to 1987, it was 13124 square meters.
After 1983, residents built 15000 square meters of houses. By 1987, the town had 71000 square meters of bungalows, 12000 square meters of buildings, and 10 square meters of housing area per capita.
In 1782, three bridges, Dongji, Nanji and Liji, were built at the upper, middle and lower ferries of Qianlong town. Only two stone single arch bridges in South and North streets and three-step two bridges in Xiaobei Street still exist. In 1972, a three span multi arch bridge of reinforced concrete rotary soil structure was built, with a length of 100 meters and a width of 8 meters. 202 concrete railings on the bridge deck, with a load of 30 tons, are located at the North ferry, which is the main road connecting the East and west of the town. In 1676, a stone double arch bridge with two holes was built at shangdukou. It is 50 meters long and 6 meters wide. It is the main road connecting the north and south of the town.
Before 1984, the surplus electric lighting produced by factories in the town's government offices and a few families was often cut off, which was very abnormal. After that, a 10kV Transmission line was set up from Changji substation to Huhu. Hekou town raised 50000 yuan to t connect the line, install transformers, and set up low-voltage lines. Since then, Hekou people have officially used electricity.
At present, with the joint efforts of the Party committee, government and people of Hekou Town, the infrastructure of Hekou town is constantly improving, the area of Hekou town is expanding, and various social undertakings have made great progress. In 2004, the provincial textile materials company invested more than 30 million yuan in the central area of Hekou town to build a comprehensive wholesale and retail market covering an area of 80.37 mu with nearly 800 commercial shops, which significantly improved the absorption and radiation capacity of Hekou town's commercial trade. In 2006, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 51.59 million yuan, an increase of 21%.
The town has a provincial civilized unit, a municipal model middle school, an ordinary middle school and a vocational middle school, more than 10 primary schools and kindergartens, and more than 4000 teachers and students. The Provincial Grain Reserve, Huoqiu Hekou, Anhui Province, has a capacity of 15000 tons and is located in the center of the town. The cable TV network of Huoqiu County has been connected with the cable TV network of Huoqiu County after the transformation of more than 100000 yuan in 2005. It has jurisdiction over 13 villagers' committees, including Yongan village, Yongan village, Jiahe village, Yongan village, Wangling village, Yongan village, and 60 residents' groups. In 2006, the per capita net income of farmers reached 2300 yuan, an increase of 10%. Huhu sub canal, the main water channel for agricultural production in the town, is 70 Li. There are 3 pumping stations and 3 irrigation and drainage stations in the town.

Economics
One is an important vegetable town. Hekou town used to be one of the most important vegetable bases in the west of Anhui Province. Except for two professional vegetable villages, other villages have vegetable planting bases of a certain scale. The total vegetable planting area accounts for about 8% of the total cultivated area of the town, reaching 2000 mu. Plastic greenhouses and off-season vegetable planting techniques are widely used, and fresh vegetables are supplied throughout the year. Because of its variety and large output, its vegetable sales area is expanding year by year. Hekou vegetables are not only sold to Lu'an, Huoqiu, Jinzhai, Yeji and other places, but also exported to Gushi County and other surrounding counties and townships in Henan Province. The annual output of vegetables is about 2000 tons.
Second, it is an important distribution center of animal husbandry and aquatic products. Hekou town is located at the intersection of several main rivers in the county, which is rich in animal husbandry and aquatic products. In addition to the traditional livestock such as live pigs, white geese, Ma Ya and local chickens, the centralized purchase and long-distance trafficking of aquatic products such as loach, eel, turtle and lobster are also very popular in this town, which not only attracts farmers from more than 10 surrounding towns to trade, but also enriches the vegetable baskets of urban residents such as Hefei and Nanjing. The daily trading volume of aquatic products in the whole town is about 5 tons, showing a strong trend of purchase and sale.
Third, the wholesale distribution center of general merchandise. Hekou town has prospered as a wholesale market of general merchandise since it was built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are more than 40 large and small wholesale shops and more than 10 daily department stores in the town. The daily turnover of commodities is more than 500000 yuan. Due to the door-to-door delivery mode, its trade radiation is expanding year by year. With the gradual completion of the Hekou market, which was invested 32 million yuan by the former Anhui Textile Trade Materials Corporation, Hekou has increasingly become the wholesale center of general merchandise in towns around western Anhui and Eastern Henan.
Fourth, rice processing base. Huoqiu County is a national commodity grain base, and rice is the main agricultural product of the county. Hekou grain and oil reserve station is a Provincial Grain Reserve, with an annual reserve of 30000 tons. There are more than 30 rice processing plants in the town, such as Fulai milled rice factory, which can process 600 tons of rice per day. The products are exported to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong and other provinces.
Fifth, the hometown of culture. Hekou town used to be one of the three towns in Huoqiu County in history. Hekou middle school in the town is a complete middle school directly under the county. It was founded in 1954 and is now a provincial civilized unit and a municipal model high school. In addition, Hekou town middle school, Caolou vocational middle school, Hekou No.1 Primary School, No.2 primary school, central kindergarten, and private middle school Wencai school, with more than 20000 students, covering 32 towns in the county. Hekou cultural station invested more than 120000 yuan to lay optical cable, which realized the connection with Huoqiu County Cable TV network and greatly enriched the amateur cultural life of the whole town.
