Xiayu town is located in the southwest of Luoning County, Henan Province, 46 kilometers away from the county seat, with a total area of 206.8 square kilometers, 19 administrative villages and 11720 people (2017). Anhu line traverses the East and West, Chongbai road traverses the north and south, with convenient transportation, beautiful scenery, outstanding people, simple folk customs, heavy cultural accumulation and rich natural resources. The proven silver reserves are 2500 tons and the prospective reserves are 5500 tons. It is one of the large silver development bases in the national non-ferrous metal system. The proven lead reserves are 470000 tons and the prospective reserves are 1.3 million tons, ranking third in China and first in the province. Xiayu is rich in hydropower and water resources. The Luohe River flows through the town boundary for 15 kilometers, with an average annual transit water of 1.253 billion cubic meters, and the hydropower resources of 72000 kilowatts. Therefore, the county reservoir was built in 1992, with an installed capacity of 60000 kilowatts; Chongyang hydropower station is about to start construction, with an installed capacity of 9000 kilowatts. Therefore, the annual water storage capacity of the county reservoir is more than 1 billion cubic meters, which can provide guarantee for the draught of human and livestock and industrial and agricultural water. Xiayu is rich in forest resources, with 191000 mu of forest land, including 115000 mu of natural forest, 33000 mu of man-made forest and 18000 mu of barren hills, with a forest coverage rate of 63%. In the southern mountainous area, there are dense forests and various wild animals and plants. Wild boar and sika deer run to the mountain stream, pheasant and hare are common. Pueraria and forsythia are all over the mountain. Chestnuts, walnuts, persimmons and kiwifruit are well-known. They are suitable for the development of special culture and the cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials, edible fungi and economic forests. Built in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, the Wangs' courtyard is located in houshangzhuang village, Xiayu town. The whole Wangs' courtyard is magnificent, antique and green bamboo. It can be regarded as a model of ancient feudal architecture with good cultural and archaeological value. It is also a living dictionary for the study of ancient architecture and feudal society. In early 2014, the government of Xiayu town invested in the construction of the farm tools Museum, which is located in the back garden of the Wang family courtyard, an ancient building in houshangzhuang village in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. More than 500 farming implements and rural daily necessities are on display, showing the life style of local farmers in various periods since liberation. Xiayu sketching base is located in the hinterland of Xionger mountain in western Henan Province, at the junction of Luoning, Luanchuan and Lushi counties in Henan Province, 45 kilometers away from Luoning County, 125 kilometers away from Luoyang City and 260 kilometers away from Zhengzhou, the provincial capital. The southern part of Xiayu town is covered with mountains and hills, while the northern part is covered with hills and hills. In spring and summer, the mountain flowers are brilliant. Since 2008, groups from Hubei Academy of fine arts, Luoyang Normal University, Shangqiu Normal University, Zhongyuan College of culture and art, Zhengda College of architecture, Yanshi Xindai studio, Luoyang black horse studio and many other colleges and universities have come to Xiayu for sketching, and have successively established teaching practice bases here. The paintings and prints of Xiayu scenery are highly praised by famous painters in China; the works of Professor Huang Bin about Xiayu scenery are collected and exhibited in the office by a German governor.
In recent years, with the construction of "the first sketching base in western Henan" as the goal, Xiayu town has increased investment, built yinfengshan ecological park, Xiling sketching Park, sketching apartment building and a number of rural hotels, which can receive 500 people at the same time, providing a good opportunity for Sketchers
