Ancient town, belonging to Linkou County, Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the middle of Linkou County, bordering Qingshan town in the East, Kuishan Town, Linkou town and Longzhao town in the south, sandaohezi town in Hailin City in the southwest, Lianhua town in the west, Jiantang town in the north and xiaowuzhan town in Boli County in the northeast. The town government is located in three villages, Xinchun road. The area is 188.73 square kilometers.
In 2018, the number of registered residence in ancient towns was 21976. As of October 2019, Gucheng has 19 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
In 2018, there were 2 industrial enterprises and 14 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters in Gucheng.
On September 24, 2019, Gucheng (baiguazi) was announced as the ninth batch of national "one village, one product" demonstration villages by the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas. On May 26, 2020, ancient towns were selected into the list of strong agricultural towns in 2020.
Historical evolution
In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Yilan Prefecture, Yilan Road, Jilin Province.
During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Longzhaogou village of Yilan Prefecture, which was called Xialiangzi.
In the seventh year of the Republic of China (1918), it was assigned to Boli County and set up an ancient town.
In 1933, it was the 13th grade A in Boli County.
In 1938, Gucheng village was changed.
In 1939, it belonged to Linkou county.
In May 1946, it became the second autonomous region of Wulin county.
In 1947, it was assigned to Linkou county.
In 1949, it was renamed Gucheng district.
In 1956, ancient urban and rural areas were changed.
In 1958, it was changed into Xincheng commune.
In April 1984, it was changed into an ancient town.

Location context
The ancient town is located in the middle of Linkou County, between Guokui mountain and Kenta mountain. The ancient town is located in Guokui mountain and Kenta mountain area. The terrain is high around and low in the middle, forming flat valley and valley depression in the river confluence area. Most of the terrain is hilly, and a small part is medium and low mountain. The highest point in the territory is located in the Northeast No.2 dam mountain, with an altitude of 849 meters; the lowest point is located in the north of Yanhe village, on the Bank of wusihun River, with an altitude of 217 meters.

The river in ancient town belongs to Mudanjiang River system. The largest river in the territory is wusihun River, which runs through the middle of the town. It is 20 kilometers long and collects branches such as malugou River, Yahe River, HUSHUI Hongqigou River, HUSHUI Donggou River and damadanggou River along the way.
