In 1953, East Yangzhuang township was built. In 1958, it belonged to ruzuo commune. In 1961, dongyangzhuang commune was established. In 1984, the township was restored. In 1996, ruzuo township was incorporated into China. As of June 2020, dongyangzhuang township has jurisdiction over 20 administrative villages.
