Hongchi Township

Hongchi township is located 50 kilometers west of Pinglu county. It is close to Zhongtiao Mountain in the north, along the Yellow River in the south, adjacent to Changle Town in the East, and separated from ruichengmo gully in the West. It is the west gate of Pinglu county.

Hongchi township has a flat wall and concentrated population. The township governs 16 administrative villages, including Yue Village, Liuzhan village, Nanpo village, nanhou village, Xizhang village, Nanhong village, Shanghong village, Hu Village, Nanwang village, Baozi village, Beima village, Kengdi village, Xizheng village, Lugou village, Linchang village and razeng village, with 78 resident groups and 14001 permanent residents (in 2017). The total land area of the township is 46 square kilometers, including arable land Covering an area of 27000 mu, the township has convenient transportation, and all 16 administrative villages are connected with Baiyou road and cement road. Among them, Beima and baozi villages have realized "cement road for every household". There are 2000 fixed phones and 700 mobile phones in the township.

Original name

Hongchi, formerly known as gongchi, is located in Xiantian, a plateau basin. In ancient times, it was flooded and often accumulated water. After the flood receded, it became the dry land, named Hongchi, which means flood drainage and flood resistance and drought prevention. According to Zuozhuan ten years of Duke Huan, in 702 BC, Duke Yu, the monarch of the state of Yu, asked his younger brother uncle Yu for treasure and jade. His younger brother didn't want to give it to him, but he was afraid of being punished for it, so he gave it to him. Before long, Duke Yu wanted his brother's sword again. Seeing that Duke Yu was so greedy, uncle Yu thought: I'm afraid I'll be killed in the future. So he led the army to attack Duke Yu, who fled to gongchi. Gongchi, today's Hongchi, was built by Yu Gong after he fled. Now there are ruins of the old city in his village, with the names of the corner of the city and the back lane of the city.
