Xindian Town, subordinate to Lintao County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province, is located in the north of Lintao County, adjacent to Malian mountain in the East, Xintian town in the south, Taohe River in the West and Taishi town in the north, with an administrative area of 180.48 square kilometers.
By the end of 2018, Xindian town had 37440 registered residence population. As of June 2020, Xindian town had jurisdiction over 31 administrative villages; the town government was in Xindian Village.

History of construction
In 1912, Xindian township was established.
In May 1950, it was under the jurisdiction of Taishi district.
In April 1956, Xindian township was established.
Xindian commune was established in August 1961.
In June 1983, Xindian township was changed.
In December 1993, the township was removed to build a town.

The eastern part is alpine mountainous area with ravines; the western part is Chuanping area with flat terrain. The highest point in Xindian town is located in Malian mountain with an altitude of 3670 meters; the lowest point is located in jiucaiwan with an altitude of 1800 meters.
