Xindian town is located in the southwest of Luoyang City, adjacent to the urban area in the East, Luohe River in the south, Yiyang County in the West and sunqitun Township in the north. The town government is located in Sanyuan village on the north side of Heluo road.

Luoyi North Road runs 11 kilometers from east to west of the town, Southwest Ring Expressway runs through the town from north to south, connecting Jianxi District and Luonan new district. Baishi road goes north to sunqitun township. The historic site has Longtan Temple.

Xindian township was established in 1952, changed to commune in 1958, restored to township in 1984, and changed to town in 1995.
