Sanlitun Street
Sanlitun Street is a street under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang District of Beijing. It was founded in 1976. It is located in the central and western part of Chaoyang District, with a total area of 2.9 square kilometers, starting from East Third Ring North Road in the East, Gongti South Road in the south, Chunxiu road in the West and Dongcheng District, and Liangma River in the north. There are 35394 permanent residents (in 2010), more than 10000 floating population and 2300 foreign population.
Sanlitun Street is located in the functional radiation area of Beijing business center. It is one of the most active economic and cultural development zones in Chaoyang District. It is also an important part of Chaoyang District's "fashion culture plate". As one of the first batch of cultural and creative industry gathering areas awarded by Chaoyang District, Chaoyang District has distinctive regional development characteristics. Sanlitun Street was established in 1976 and officially opened to the public on January 1, 1977. There are more than 4000 enterprises, 95 embassies (consulates) in China, as well as the United Nations Development Agency, the United Nations refugee agency, the United Nations Children's fund and a large number of foreign hotels. It is also the headquarters of Volkswagen, Boeing and other international famous enterprises in China.
