Xinji Town, belonging to Linxia County, Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, is located in the east of Linxia County, bordering Luhan town of Linxia city in the East, Yinji town across Daxia River in the south, Hanji town in the West and Hongtai Township in the north. The area is 35.69 square kilometers. In 2018, 24235 people registered residence.

In 1950, Xinji and Wuhan were merged. In December 1955, the new district was abolished. In May 1958, Gucheng township was merged into Xinji township. In September of the same year, Xinji people's commune was established. At the end of 1958, Linxia county was abolished and Xinji commune was subordinate to Linxia city. At the end of 1961, the organizational system of Linxia county was restored, and Xinji commune belonged to Linxia county. In 1983, the township was changed. In September 2002, the township was replaced by a new market town. In October 2019, nine administrative villages will be under the jurisdiction of the new town.

In 2018, there were 17 industrial enterprises in the new town, and 5 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

Xinji Town is located in the alternate zone of low mountains and gullies, small Tableland and river valley terraces. The whole terrain is relatively flat and open. The terrain inclines from southwest to northeast. The highest point is 2371 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is 1992 meters above sea level.

Economics

In 2011, the new town had 20041 mu of arable land, with a total agricultural output value of 33.88 million yuan, an increase of 8.6% over the previous year, and an agricultural added value of 22.022 million yuan. The main food crops are wheat, corn and potato, producing 7613.5 tons of grain, including 3344.7 tons of wheat, 3647.1 tons of corn and 465.8 tons of potato.
