History and culture
The beacon tower site of shierlian City
Located in Chengguan Town, Tongguan County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, the beacon tower site of the 12th Liancheng city was originally dated from the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. Later, some scholars believe that the upper limit of its age should be in the Han and Wei dynasties, while others believe that its age should be as early as the Western Zhou Dynasty.
The twelve linked cities defend the natural danger of Tongguan's forbidden ditch, which is even more dangerous because of the twelve linked cities. If the forbidden ditch becomes a thoroughfare, Tongguan will be in danger of isolation. According to Tongguan Wei Zhi, there are twelve linked cities on the right, which are located in the west of the forbidden Valley, 30 Li from the southern suburbs to the mountains, and twelve linked cities are three li and one city. Each city has a hundred soldiers, and in the middle of the city, there are many firearm stones to connect with each other. If it is as fast as wind and rain, there will be a hundred soldiers. How can they surpass and fly across the city. Therefore, those who guard the pass but don't guard the forbidden ditch are still good at guarding it. Those who guard the forbidden ditch but don't build twelve linked cities are still not good at guarding it. It's in You Yi's room that you don't have to close your window to prevent birds from entering It shows that Tongguan, jinggou and shierliancheng are interdependent. Although none of the original twelve linked cities on the West Bank of the forbidden ditch has survived, the ten beacon towers in the city stand as a witness of history. The square beacon tower is about 7.6 meters high and more than 10 meters wide.
On May 3, 2013, the beacon tower site of the 12th Liancheng city was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
