Xinzhuang Town is located in the northwest of Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province, on the South Bank of Bohai Bay. Xinzhuang Town belonged to Dongliang society of Huangshan Township in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Xinzhuang Town is one of the earliest open towns in Yantai city. It is located on the coast of Bohai Sea, facing Tianjin and Dalian. It is the only coastal town and famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Zhaoyuan City. The coastline of the town is 13.5km, with 63 administrative villages and 29416 permanent residents (2017).

In October 2019, Xinzhuang Town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Overview of the whole town

Xinzhuang Town is one of the earliest open towns in Yantai city. It is located on the coast of Bohai Sea, facing Tianjin and Dalian. It is the only coastal town and famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Zhaoyuan City. Xinzhuang Town has a total area of 113.34 square kilometers and a permanent population of 29416 (2017). In 2002, the total income of rural economy was 3.24 billion yuan, the local fiscal revenue was 9.77 million yuan, the GDP was 879 million yuan, and the per capita net income was 5021 yuan. Xinzhuang Town is located in the northwest of Zhaoyuan City, south of Bohai Bay. The area is 13 kilometers from north to South and 14.4 kilometers from east to west, with a total area of 113.65 square kilometers. Zhaoyuan is the only coastal town in Zhaoyuan City, with a coastline of 13.5 kilometers, 63 administrative villages and a population of 46000.

Xinzhuang Town belonged to Dongliang society of Huangshan Township in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was the fourth district. In 1931, it was changed to Dongliang and shuipan townships in the eighth district. In 1941, it belonged to the eighth District of Zhaobei county. In 1950, after the merger of Zhaoyuan and Zhaobei counties, they belonged to Jiehe district. Five star commune in 1958. In 1959, it was renamed Jiehe commune. It was changed to Xinzhuang Town in 1984.

Historical Site

Xinzhuang Town has a long history. Nine historical and cultural relics have been found, including the ancient tombs in Xinzhuang, the Han Tombs in the Song family, the song tombs in Cikou, Laodian and the ancient ruins in Zhaishang. Among them, Xinzhuang ancient tombs are listed as provincial cultural relics protection units.

During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, Liu yunpei, a 12-year-old writer in wasunjia village, wrote the "calligraphy wonder" stele, which is now in the forest of Steles in Xi'an. Since 1950, Sui Shusen, an expert in Yuan opera research, Wang Ruilin, former deputy director of the General Political Department of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, Liu shunyao, commander of the air force, and Liu Fufang, a famous painter, have come out of China. Historically, the cultural life of the masses in the territory was relatively active. Popular are Beijing opera, Lu opera, Gushu and Yangko. Donggou Li family's "eight people's Congress dry boat" and Mabu Zhuangzi's "POU official" had great influence. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the famous "big bookshop" and "second bookshop" in the national publishing industry were founded by Liu Jingui and Liu Zuoxin of menggezhuang village, with the names of "chengwentang", "chengwenxin", "chengwende" and "chengwenxing". Xinzhuang Town is the only coastal town in Zhaoyuan City. It is 15 kilometers long along the coast, with an area of 158 square kilometers of inland sea area.
