Chaoyang cave
Chaoyang cave, located in the natural village of Donggou, Nianzi village, Baoshan Town, is 620 meters above sea level. When the weather is clear, the sun will shine into the cave, so Chaoyang cave gets its name. According to legend, one day in the first year of Emperor Shun's Yongjian in the Eastern Han Dynasty (126), monks from the South came to the ancient cave with the pharmacist Buddha Jinzun in their arms. Seeing the beautiful scenery, they placed the Jinzun in the cave and made it face the sunshine. The monks took the cave as a temple, practiced here and recited the "pharmacist's praise Sutra" every day. Thus, the "Chaoyang ancient temple" spread. In 1274, the temple was rebuilt and changed its name to "Louyan Temple". The temple covers an area of 100 mu, including ancient theater, Niangniang Temple, wuxiantang, Sanguan temple, chaotiangui, baguatai, yuhuangyin and other 12 major human and natural landscapes.
Every year on March 28 of the lunar calendar was a lively temple fair in Chaoyang cave, which usually lasted for about a week. After 1950s and 1960s, the ancient temple of Chaoyang cave was on the verge of abandonment.
In 2005, Chaoyang cave site was approved as "Huairou district level cultural relics protection unit".
